Random videos of 'Amy' in threads...

As above. Why have videos of 'Amy' and her baby started appearing in every single thread I open? It's very annoying. Am I expected to pay for Premium or something to stop this?! Thanks...

I think you have a slightly overinflated sense of your own importance

😂😂😂 They own the site.

MarieDelaere · 23/03/2021 14:45

👋

Tbh, as an embedded advert experiment it was crap. I also noticed that while it was running, the other ads I was seeing on MN, that are normally very well targeted, were utterly bizarre.

I think Ami Broke The Algorithm.

Mabelene · 23/03/2021 15:08

Yes they own the site, but what’s a site without users? Piss us off enough and we’ll go elsewhere, the internet is a big place

SoupDragon · 23/03/2021 15:19

There are lots of users. Losing a handful due to an ad isn't going to cause any problem.

They are generally very good at listening to their users though, as evidenced by their response to this thread.

Hi @youvegottenminuteslynn just popping in to answer your question. It wasn't an intentional decision or an ad format to make it look like a user post. Flowers

@soniamumsnet
Well done to all at MNHQ for taking heed of our dislike and annoyance at this advert.

The contents of the ad were of absolutely no relevance to me, but what annoyed me most was the persistent repeated appearance of it on page after page after page.

I'm so relieved that it has been removed. Thank you! Gin Gin Gin

The intrusive, annoying and repetitive auto-playing Ami videos were reported months ago but they are still here today. One of the worst things is they stalk you when you scroll down the page, shooting diagonally across the page into the bottom righthand corner.

I've not seen her since Tuesday when Sonia said they'd "rolled back this ad for logged in users"
MrsMackesy · 25/03/2021 14:56

I think you're right, Soup - it does disappear if I log in. It's annoying beforehand though or if you don't want to log in. It must also be off-putting to new visitors to the site and put some off joining.

We're also still waiting for the long-promised Reject All option for cookies.....

Urgh she went away but now she's back on my iPad web browser. It's an old iPad and the automatic playing of the Ami video is really slowing things down. I've never seen any other video adverts doing this apart from Ami's one. On another note anyone know anything about this Ami person? She looks like she is not in the best health so I hope she is ok!
