FWR clarification; deletion and strikes

ItsLateHumpty · 21/08/2020 17:09

Hey MNHQ

(I’m) Back on site stuff from FWR to talk to you because either we’re not understanding the rules or the rules have changed and we’ve not changed with them.

There seems to be a marked increase in all thread rather than suspect post deletion.
Or regular posters getting posts deleted but not sure why.
Or you acknowledge ‘not in faith’ posters and delete a whole thread, even though there’s been some very good discussion.
And we don’t know if we’re on a ‘strike’ deletion or not 😬

Totally appreciate you guys do a difficult job, and sometimes between a rock and a hard place! but if the rules sticky was updated or deletions were explained, we’d stop tripping over our own feet which causes you extra admin work.

Can you help us?

I know that there are people out there who don't want women discussing stuff with other women. I am really concerned that @mnhq seems to be bowing to pressure from them rather than from members.

But if the people raising concerns about the content of posts are also women and also members of MN..?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 25/08/2020 13:26

Yeah, also got deleted and warned for fairly bland posting. What's happening?

ErrolTheDragon · 25/08/2020 13:36

There's another thread now on the woman who wants to use her dead child's sperm. It's carefully neutral - which tbh I think is fine. It's really an issue about post-death use of gametes and surrogacy; the factor which doubtless made the monitors twitchy is only relevant in that it set up the situation in which the possibility even existed.

While I don't think the previous thread should have been deleted (I read the 'ugh' as visceral distaste over using a dead child's gametes, not anything else), I'm somewhat inclined to think that in this instance focussing on the main issues is preferable to being distracted by pronouns or whatever else iyswim.

TinselAngel · 25/08/2020 13:45

It's vital that AGP can be discussed in a feminist forum. It is a feminist issue, and very often women are victims of domestic abuse which is associated with it- the trans widows threads are evidence of that.
(nb not generalising about AGP and domestic abuse, just making observations based on women's evidence on this site).

Roswellconspiracy · 25/08/2020 13:48

I think posters are being targetted not threads.

Something shifty is going on. Everything is already as vague as it can be now.

Someone needs to tell some people NO istead of deleting perfectly valid and non offensive posts

Yup
EchoCardioGran · 25/08/2020 18:50

So, no clarification of anything asked on here then?
Not very helpful at all.

This.
poshme · 25/08/2020 21:21

@ErrolTheDragon I started the first (deleted) thread on the donor sperm, and also the the new (carefully very phrased) thread too.

And yes. 'Ugh' exactly as you said.
And just sad for everyone involved tbh.

Mollscroll · 25/08/2020 23:25

Yep. Named posters are being targeted.

Quaagars · 26/08/2020 15:44

Something shifty is going on

That doesn't begin to make sense though - even if it was as you say "posters are being targeted" which I think is a bit Hmm and tin foil hatty
If they weren't breaking the talk guidelines, their posts would still stand and there'd be nothing wrong with them.
TAATs has always been a no no as well when it comes to guidelines so that's nothing new either.

Mollscroll · 26/08/2020 16:00

I can confirm that posts which do not conflict with guidelines also get deleted.

Specific posters have definitely been targeted. I've seen TRAs on Twitter with my own eyes say that's what they're doing.
YetAnotherSpartacus · 27/08/2020 10:38

I got deleted for one word - 'bollox'. That was all my reply (to the thread on doulas) said. Bollox means (I thought) I think this is rubbish and I disagree. Are we not now allowed to disagree? I didn't use the term in any way intended to signify a double-entendre. It was just 'bollox'.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 27/08/2020 10:56

Its unfair

Well i thought Biscuit meant no comment

How wrong was I??!!?

ItsLateHumpty · 27/08/2020 12:59

And don’t yawn ladies. It’s subversive. Or something.

OP posts:
RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 27/08/2020 13:09

Thing is

Bless
Yawn
Biscuit
Bollox

Etc

Are all fine...as long as some [redacted...cos i just know ill be deleted] doesn’t report them

On every other thread there are those exact words and some Much worse, and they stand

They stand because no one reports them...because they aren’t worth reporting. And usually (not always) grown ups are happy to debate, argue and brush off someone being silly or flippant

Rather than report

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 27/08/2020 13:11

My redacted word was actually pretty tame

But i didnt want to lose the post Grin

MonsteraCheeseplant · 27/08/2020 14:15

You be fair, redacting the word allowed my imagination to fill it in with something that is likely far more offensive Grin

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 27/08/2020 16:06

Yeah monster

You’d be VERY disappointed 😀

How is thinking that somebody might have a grudge against a particular poster "tin foil hatty". This comes across as an attempt to gaslight.
Quaagars · 29/08/2020 12:03

Confused Hmm

YetAnotherSpartacus · 29/08/2020 12:04

I agree Tinsel.

What else can it be when individual posters are definitely being targeted and you are implying women are mad for pointing it out?
