You just can't help yourself can you ?

ahundredtimes · 09/09/2007 13:57

I'm adding my name to the thunderous silence.

Though I would defend their right to be mawkish and prurient on MN, I am equally delighted to be able to register my disapproval.

Aitch · 09/09/2007 13:57

i'm not really likening it to the GF situation, i think that the McCanns have bigger fish to fry than MN, tbh.

but with regards to people reading their newspapers thinking that MN is full of salivating ghouls, actually i really don't like that.

which is odd, because it's not like we're at school and some bad kids are bringing shame on us all by getting in the press for being wankers... but that is how i feel in a way. i can see that not everyone will feel that, however.

like Marina and others, i've felt a bit, well sick at the idea of clicking on active convos and seeing all the harpies knitting at the foot of the guillotine, and it's made me not want to come back. perhaps i take it too personally, who knows? but perhaps i'm not alone?

should like to make clear that my last post was because 100x wanted me to wink at her yesterday

Aitch · 09/09/2007 14:00

haychee, MNHQ is defending your right to go and post reams of speculative prose without interruption... but could you give it a rest on here, amongst people who have quite specifically said they do not wish to discuss these details?

Oh Aitch as well.

I always knew political activism was a hotbed of flirting and winking.

ShinyHappySchmooo · 09/09/2007 14:04

Libel can be found on MN any day of the week, of that I am sure

Firepile · 09/09/2007 14:06

Firepile

MerlinsBeard · 09/09/2007 14:06

SHS..well yes but i beleive the McGanns are sueing a newspaper for libelous comments at the moment. So inlight of the fact that MN seems to be a journalists dream these days.........

ahundredtimes · 09/09/2007 14:08

It isn't just that though is it - it's because it is morally a repulsive way to behave, distasteful, lacking in insight, intelligence and empathy.

The libel is a side-issue really, the threads are appalling and I appreciate the fact that Aitch has given us somewhere to record that fact. I also appreciate Aitch in other, more personal, ways.

Blandmum · 09/09/2007 14:08

SHS, you are quite possibly right.

But in the end, if you heard people making vile racist jokes, would you feel OK abut just ignoring it? If they said to you, 'if you don't like racist jokes, just don't listen', would you feel that by saying nothing you would be , effectivly condoning their behavior.

That is what I ened up feeling like yesterday.

Aitch · 09/09/2007 14:08

The only time I have looked at these threads was two days ago and they confirmed my worst views! There must be a lot of people who have little else to do than spin stories from the tabloids. Let them continue if they must, but I shall continue to ignore them.

But you're not ignoring them. This is a thread about threads on the McCanns.

sazzybee · 09/09/2007 14:16

Signed sazzybee.

I did contribute yesterday morning to say stop this vile ghoulish speculation but my posts were entirely ignored and things got much worse later. This feels a bit more positive.

Thanks aitch
