What really makes words fail me is that all this effort and time and passion (surely it is passion why else would you mawk over the probably murder of a young girl as has been demonstrated minute after minute, pouncing on news - however flaky or merely circumstantial) could be used to such effect if diverted to a cause which would benefit from such attention and discussion.

Heathcliffscathy · 10/09/2007 22:16

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY MY POST WAS JUST DELETED?????

lilolilmanchester · 10/09/2007 22:21

sorry no, but am also intrigued. You're not a "deleted post" kind of MNetter from what I can see!

Desiderata · 10/09/2007 22:25

I can't even see evidence that it was deleted. Usually it says 'Message Deleted.'

Or did I not scroll down far enough?

To test it, make the point again, soph. I missed it anyway.

Mercy · 10/09/2007 22:25

sophable - I really don't understand either. Your post and PSCmum's were both deleted for no reason that I can see.

Weird

lilolilmanchester · 10/09/2007 22:28

type it really quickly on this thread, if we get chance to read it might be able to help you work out why (the deleted msg was on another thread I think, Desiderata

Desiderata · 10/09/2007 22:29

Well, there's no indication that PSCMum posted on this thread either. We all know that if a message has been deleted, the name remains.

How curious ...

Oh, I see! Thank you, lilo

JustineMumsnet · 10/09/2007 22:32

As posted on other thread (PSCMum's post was deleted for same reason - personal attack):

Hi Sophable and all.
First, Sophable we deleted your post because you called the members posting on this thread "WEIRDOS" which breaks our rules on personal attacks - no problem with your latest post where you make the same point but without the name calling.

To everyone, we reiterate that we don't disallow threads about Madeleine McCann because it's a valid discussion topic in our opinion. It is leading every news bulletin everywhere - it would be nonsensical to ban discussion entirely.

Neither do we disallow Mumsnetters' right to object to that discussion, say they find it distasteful whatever - we do ask everyone (whichever view they hold) to abide by our abuse policy (stay legal, avoid obscenties and personal attacks) and we do urge everyone to remain civil also. To quote the MN philosophy - we are here to make folks' lives easier - not the reverse. Generally shouting and hollering makes things more difficult.
Cheers,
MN Towers

lilolilmanchester · 10/09/2007 22:32

LittleLapin, aren't you too busy to be on MN tonight????

GodzillasBingoWings · 10/09/2007 22:35

Haven't even read the threads this was about but don't want to be associated so

Godzillas

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/09/2007 22:36

Isnt "weirdos" an adjective, rather than a noun in this case? What's wrong with that, some folk like being weirdos......im pretty sure.

Heathcliffscathy · 10/09/2007 22:37

you are such a weirdo vvv.

are you going to delete this too?

pmsl

JustineMumsnet · 10/09/2007 22:39

Ok am off to bed - so you can call eachother wierdos all you like.
Weirdos!

Heathcliffscathy · 10/09/2007 22:40

night justine.

still think you shouldn't have deleted me. but will be circumspect and tomorrow will put together the same post in far more extreme terms without any personal attacks.

are you still scrapping?

If you'd all come with me today up the Langdale Pikes you wouldn't have the energy!

Mercy · 10/09/2007 22:55

fark off sophable and ll - you are all a load of bitches and c888s!

And as for you bobbysmum07 - goodnight

soapbox · 10/09/2007 23:10

I've just taken my name off this list. I had hoped this thread might be the start of a more rational approach to the McCann threads but sadly it didn;t prove to be the case.

The behaviours of the anti-McCann thread factions (or what ever you want to call them) are, imo, as dysfunctional and hysterical as those who are posting on the threads themselves. I rally, really want to disassociate myself from both camps. There is a perverse almost codependent relationship between the two factions, that I want nothing to do with.

In any event I think the wind is changing on this sad event and things will undoubtably get brutal here while it all unfolds. In the meantime I'll be off wandering the net in search of a new home!

I'm not happy to be labelled 'hysterical' or 'dyfunctional'.

I hope I've made a quiet protest, if I've protested at all! I don't think the topic should be banned, I just wish people could be sensible in the discussion and not come up with wild theories.

As for any name calling or personal attacks, count me out.
