Qui tacet consentire videture... I want it to be understood by MNHQ and by guests to this site that my silence on the subject of the recent speculative threads does NOT condone their existence.

Aitch.

OP posts:
Pan · 10/09/2007 23:25

Has anyone else noticed names have been deleted as it gathers?? My name, and those around me at the time of registering have been removed. Unless I really do need those bi-focals....

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/09/2007 23:27

Soapbox - is that a flounce?

NadineBaggott · 10/09/2007 23:28

I think I'll stick to scrabble

RustyBear · 10/09/2007 23:29

That's because people are copying the list at the same time Pan - so the new name on the first to be re-posted doesn't appear on the second iyswim.

handlemecarefully · 10/09/2007 23:30

Ditto - almost word for word - NadineB

UCM · 10/09/2007 23:31

Soapy, I didn't join either camp.

UCM · 10/09/2007 23:32

Said before I agree with Custard.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/09/2007 23:43

Are you playing scrabble now....?

Squiffy · 11/09/2007 07:47

I may not agree with what others may say, but I will defend to the death their right to say it.

I do however wish that we could direct the more excitable MNers to another part of the site and just leave them to it. It is revolting sometimes to see sensible debate dissolve into playground mudslinging.
And revolting also to have lazy journo's simply pluck off this site random quotes that they then use to support whatever shocking angle they need to represent in order to get the flurry of mail responses that in turn justify their sorry little existences on scummy sensationalist newspapers.

Olive farkin Oil x 23645 million

oliveoil · 11/09/2007 09:14

(ooooh I seem to be at the start of the thread now, how did that happen?)

power of moi?

Hurlyburly · 11/09/2007 09:17

Oh Squiffy, I agree wholeheartedly.

Except that possibly I wouldn't defend any of the pruriently speculative to the death. Not to the death. Maybe to the point of a broken fingernail. Thus far and no further.

Who said that anyway? Was it Voltaire?

ruty · 11/09/2007 09:21

So should one report Mercy's post or let it stand I wonder...

ruty · 11/09/2007 09:28

i've reported it.

EffiePerine · 11/09/2007 09:29

lol at 'excitable' MNers

JeremyVile · 11/09/2007 09:31

Ruty, I think Mercy's post was tongue-in-cheek.

Mercy · 11/09/2007 09:32

Ruty, I wasn't having a go at either LL or Sophable - it was a joke and it was in context in this and other threads last night.

Although I admit it looks bad now, especially as I left the grin off. Sorry.

ruty · 11/09/2007 09:40

yes i did wonder, but with the over zealous deleting going on i thought i might as well.

Mercy · 11/09/2007 09:42

Fair enough

Getting on here before it gets full.

ShinyHappySchmooo · 11/09/2007 10:06

Did anyone ever explain why some people have posted on the threads (as I have! And as is quite fine to do.. because most of us are NOT in that minority which this whole thing has kicked off about!).... but still signed here, apparently to "defend and explain" their "silence" on the subject? That makes a mockery of it as far as I can see. And is surely hypocrisy, as suggested earlier. How can it be not?

Not that anyone should feel quilty calmly and non-offensively taking part in an adult discussion (about ANY subject) as far as I can see.

In no doubts as to why Aitch started this thread.. but it's become a circus now.. one more thread to add to the hysterical hype.

Overrun · 11/09/2007 10:06

After a break of a couple of months, was a bit by what was always in active convos, and did find it more than a bit off putting
