that's the point, Spider. simply ignoring it gets us nowhere, as has been amply demonstrated. registering a protest, lord knows, is probably futile, but it feels a little bit like taking action without actual engagement.

Tamum
I did not start that thread

OldieMum · 09/09/2007 20:36

Thanks for doing this, Aitch.

Agree that the threads are not how I would want mn to be represented.

Agree with whoever said (a couple of years ago) that mn used to be like a private dinner party and is now like a visit to mcdonalds.

Agree with custardo that censorship is not good.

Agree with Budababe

And agree to this thread so am signing here...

I have said it before but will say one more time: this is a site for parents to get advice, not a news/current affairs site, and I am surprised and a little saddened that MNHQ have prioritised 'freedom of speech' (but only some, it would seem) over the needs and vulnerabilities of parents using thsi site for help, support, and as a form of escapism from the harshness of RL.

Tamum · 09/09/2007 20:42

OK, fine, it was another one presumably. Or maybe none. I just thought you seemed to feel responsible in some way.

haychee · 09/09/2007 20:48

I do feel responsible in some way, your right. I was involved in the suitcase convo. I didnt approve of the description but i let it by me because, well we none of us actually know anything for sure and anyhting is possible.
I just hope to god its all over soon or i fear this is the beginning of the end for MN.

Plus, i just dont know when to shut up

Blandmum · 09/09/2007 20:51

but you were so happy when you 'won' last night. What now makes you fear for the future of MN? not the fact that people have regestered thier feelings, surly?

Beetroot · 09/09/2007 20:52

the beginning of the end of MN Haychee???

good heavens no!

Beetroot · 09/09/2007 20:53

Kewcumber · 09/09/2007 20:55

lol at the idea of the posters on the Mccann threads being the end of MN!!

To be fair, there should be a poll conducted to find out the exact ratio of those for and against. How do you know there is a minority or a majority? The fact that the threads keep reappearing must proove there is quite a few who do not find it all distasteful.
Anyway i (that should be a capital) will leave now and let the thread run for your sign-ups as i am adult enough to allow you to run it. I will not bump it up till it ends - that would be unfair and rude would it not?

Nine hours later you are still at, WTF are you... the Duracell bunny.........

gibberish · 09/09/2007 20:57

I have avoided those threads like the plague. All the speculation/accusations/bickering takes away from the fact that that little girl is still missing.

haychee · 09/09/2007 20:57

I was happy that mnhq confirmed how it was wrong to bump out the thread that is all.

I fear it may be the end of MN because, if there are to be any more shocking developments the aftermath here will be unbearable. There is quite obviously a divide in opinion what percentage which way we cannot clarify but uproar there will be if anyhting else may happen.

Beetroot · 09/09/2007 20:58

oh for goodness sake of course it won't be the end of Mn.

Most reasnable poster don't go near those threads.
