Hi folks,

Yule never guess what... it's 48 days until Christmas!

We know what you're thinking... it's a bit early for turkey and Santa talk. Tbf, you're right, but we need your help!

At MNHQ, we are dying to know what Christmas films roast your chestnuts.

All you need to do is post your favourite family Christmas film on this thread. We'll track the answers and reveal the results with a Mnetters top ten video!

But wait—there’s myrrh. Did we mention that every user who contributes will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win some Mumsnet goodies? No? Well, everyone that contributes will be entered - and we'll be picking one lucky winner. So what are you waiting for?

Definitely Scrooged with Bill Murray. We love watching that on Christmas Eve!

auditoryhallucinations · 11/11/2019 17:27

The snowman is my favourite by a country mile. The family favourite however would be the first Narnia film...perhaps not christmassy but definitely winter-y!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/11/2019 17:28

Is it too early to get out the Christmas dvds?

Robin2323 · 11/11/2019 18:36

Family Man with Nicholas Cage.
White Christmas.
Miracle on 34t Street - original.

ivfbabymomma1 · 11/11/2019 19:40

Elf!!!!!! Or home alone! GrinGrin

Shangrilalala · 11/11/2019 21:58

White Christmas - I watched it practically every year as a child and we watched it for the first time in ages last year, this time with the DC. It’s every bit as magical as I remember and a gorgeous dose of nostalgia for times past.

IvinghoeBeacon · 11/11/2019 22:08

From my childhood - the snowman
Recent - Arthur Christmas

pegspurplecat · 11/11/2019 22:30

Muppet Christmas Carol. Nothing else will do!

Etinox · 11/11/2019 23:26

Elf!
Just googled its release date to check that yes, I did take dcs aged 3,5 and 7 to see it by accident. We’d gone christmas shopping, and it was only when we got to the shopping centre I realised I was very ill. It was the winter of mumps, orbital cellulitis and febrile convulsions. We were losing fingernails at one point. Took the dcs to the cinema in the hope of sleeping and recovering enough to drive home and stayed awake and loved it. Staggered home- it was the first year of online shopping chez Etinox.

The Santa clause just for the memories of watching it as a kid

And the miracle on 34th street because Richard Attenborough is exactly who you imagine Santa to be, perfect casting in my opinion [santa]

SkiingIsHeaven · 12/11/2019 01:07

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

Verylucky2 · 12/11/2019 01:07

'Love, Actually' for us. We watch it every year.

We watch Polar Express every Christmas eve, its tradition 🎄

CrazyBaubles · 12/11/2019 06:36

The Muppets Christmas Carol for me - partly because of the songs and partly for the nostalgic happy feeling it gives me. I've watched it every year since I was about 8 (am mid 30s now) Xmas Smile

Hev33 · 12/11/2019 08:18

Elf. Every single year someone suggests they watch it Christmas Eve and they all get excited and watch it while still getting angry about the dad 😂

AvengingGerbil · 12/11/2019 16:08

Madagascar Penguins Christmas Caper; closely followed by Merry Madagascar.
Family tradition, even if the offspring is now an adult.
