Hi folks,

Yule never guess what... it's 48 days until Christmas!

We know what you're thinking... it's a bit early for turkey and Santa talk. Tbf, you're right, but we need your help!

At MNHQ, we are dying to know what Christmas films roast your chestnuts.

All you need to do is post your favourite family Christmas film on this thread. We'll track the answers and reveal the results with a Mnetters top ten video!

But wait—there’s myrrh. Did we mention that every user who contributes will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win some Mumsnet goodies? No? Well, everyone that contributes will be entered - and we'll be picking one lucky winner. So what are you waiting for?

one more for Arthur Christmas

cinders15 · 09/11/2019 15:10

The Bishop's Wife - the 1947 version with David Niven and Cary Grant
and a contemporary one - either Love Actually or The Holiday

Hermie12 · 09/11/2019 15:11

Has to be Elf here too !

EggysMom · 09/11/2019 16:27

Bit of a tradition for us that we put up the tree / decorate whilst Scrooged is on the tellybox Grin

glasshouse · 09/11/2019 16:33

White Christmas or Holiday Inn for me, can't beat a bit of Bing.

winterinmadeira · 09/11/2019 16:48

Scrooge or Jack Frost.

JoyceDivision · 09/11/2019 16:48

Nativity.... The play coming together and the song "Things are really cool in Nazareth" always brings a lump to my throat Blush

Polar Express

Elf

Muppets Christmas Carol

As for a cheese fest Love Actually, the best scene being Emma Thompson opening the Christmas present.

StarDanced · 09/11/2019 17:48

The Santa Clause. It is our Christmas Eve tradition and has been since I was young. Hopefully my ds will love it just as much when he gets older.

Figmentofimagination · 09/11/2019 17:52

The Santa Clause. Absolutely love it.

Flo84 · 09/11/2019 19:57

Muppet Christmas Carol

thechocolatefireguard · 09/11/2019 20:32

Elf!

TheyMostlyComeOutAtNightMostly · 09/11/2019 20:34

Arthur Christmas is my personal favourite - Bill Nighy and Hugh Laurie are superb.

But because DD is doing A Christmas Carol for GCSE English we’ll probably also watch several versions of that over Christmas (obviously the Muppet version is best).
We’ll also take advantage of the fact that the DC are old enough for us to snuggle up under our blankies in our jimjams with mugs of hot choc as per other thread and watch everyone’s festive fave: Die Hard.

BroomstickOfLove · 09/11/2019 20:42

The Greatest Store in the World, only it's virtually impossible to get hold of.

Runners up are The Muppet Christmas Carol and Nativity.

Ribeebie · 09/11/2019 21:07

We love Santa Claus the Movie. Takes me back to Christmas Eves when I was little and we still watch it every year now. It makes me feel so festive.

Butterfly005 · 09/11/2019 22:36

It's a Wonderful Life

TheSandman · 09/11/2019 22:48

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

... or

It's a Wonderful Life.

One of them.

BeBesideTheSea · 09/11/2019 22:59

The Muppets Christmas Carol “light the lamp not the rat”

Yutes · 10/11/2019 00:00

Krampus. The 2015 Toni Collette one. A good reminder to be a good person but also to spend Christmas with the people you want to spend it with

ElizabethMainwaring · 10/11/2019 07:46

Another vote for Muppets Christmas Carol.
I love the idea of watching Life of Brian on Christmas Eve! Well done the poster who does that every year.

OopsieDaisyB · 10/11/2019 08:02

Scrooged!Grin

DrDiva · 10/11/2019 08:37

Muppet Christmas Carol for us as well. And maybe Nativity.

lorisparkle · 10/11/2019 08:41

I really can not decide. I love Christmas films. My favourite was always miracle on 34th street but then polar express came along but then I do enjoy rise of the guardians but that is not necessarily just a Christmas film. It is just too hard to decide!!

CottonSock · 10/11/2019 09:17

The snowman

Need to try home alone on kids this year.

lillypopdaisyduke · 10/11/2019 09:33
