Hi folks,

Yule never guess what... it's 48 days until Christmas!

We know what you're thinking... it's a bit early for turkey and Santa talk. Tbf, you're right, but we need your help!

At MNHQ, we are dying to know what Christmas films roast your chestnuts.

All you need to do is post your favourite family Christmas film on this thread. We'll track the answers and reveal the results with a Mnetters top ten video!

But wait—there’s myrrh. Did we mention that every user who contributes will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win some Mumsnet goodies? No? Well, everyone that contributes will be entered - and we'll be picking one lucky winner. So what are you waiting for?

Albert Finney's Scrooge. Nothing else comes close.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/11/2019 18:09

Elf - but noone will watch it will me so it’s the one with David Niven (I forget the name but it’s good too).

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/11/2019 18:10

Gremlins - a Christmas Eve must watch in this house. It's got presents, snow, love, family, and creepy little Christmas fuckers with teeth. What's not to like?

Slaymill · 07/11/2019 18:11

The Bishop’s Wife staring Cary Grant a great black and white movie and The Family Man with Nicolas Cage

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 07/11/2019 18:12

Bernard and the Genie. Or Home Alone 2.

RoseToes · 07/11/2019 18:13

Definitely Polar Express

TheCanterburyWhales · 07/11/2019 18:13

Dd and I have our line up ready for our upcoming Saturday night binges.

Home Alone 1 and 2 take top spot and the first Nativity (not literally the baby Jesus one, the Mr Poppy and Martin Hobbity thingy one)

HidingFromDD · 07/11/2019 18:14

The Greatest Store (AKA 'the girl who cut Santa's rope' by my 2, who are now in their 20s)

HidingFromDD · 07/11/2019 18:17

Grandmatrish1 · 07/11/2019 18:19

stargirl1701 · 07/11/2019 19:05

How the Grinch Stole Christmas - the 1960s animation produced by Dr Seuss. Classic.

Mickhasnotorso · 07/11/2019 19:06

Elf!!!!

ShagMeRiggins · 07/11/2019 19:08

It’s a Wonderful Life. In black and white.

Very closely followed by A Christmas Story, which I’m not sure really made it in the UK. Brilliantly funny rendition of Christmas in 1940s America.

Scrooged with Bill Murphy

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 07/11/2019 19:17

Muppet Christmas Carol!

PianoTuner567 · 07/11/2019 19:21

The Muppets Christmas Carol!

‘There is the door. You may use it’

onitlikeacarbonnet · 07/11/2019 19:26

Home Alone.
No question at all in my mind.
Gets watched all year round in our house (and not just by the dc Grin)

But it’s our Christmas Eve tradition to watch Tom and Jerry The night before Christmas. It’s 10 minutes of Christmas magic and not a word spoken. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and very often makes me sob.
It’s not a film but it deserves a mention.
