Would you pay to go ad-free on the Talk App?

Hi guys, I’ve got a bit of an unusual question, bear with me!

Some of you have mentioned you would be willing to pay to go ad-free, so we’d like to know your collective thoughts if we offered ad-free Talk in the iOS app, with some extra benefits.

On the iOS Talk app, if you could have:
- Ad-free Talk
- Increased allowance of photos
- Extra Mumsnet Emoticons

Would you be willing to pay a monthly subscription? If so, what would be a fair amount? This wouldn’t affect any of the existing Talk features, which everyone would continue to get for free.

I'm on Android so I can't open the pictures or see any pictures if a poster has posted more than one so I certainly wouldn't pay to post more pics that others who also use android can't see.
I have loads of emojis at my disposal already and if the ads start to get on my nerves I would just leave the forum.
So in a nutshell....no I would not pay a monthly sub.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 04/07/2019 16:54

No I wouldn't however I feel like if it was an option the ads might ramp up so you'd be tempted. I'd be sad to go but I would just leave at that point.

Tentomidnight · 04/07/2019 17:01

No.

SpooSpoon · 04/07/2019 17:22

No.

Maybe a one off payment of a quid or something but NO WAY I would pay anything monthly.

TheHobbitMum · 04/07/2019 17:43

As an android user if it was available to me I wouldn't ever pay. If there were more ads to try move people over to a paid subscription I would simply stop using Mumsnet

TillyTheTiger · 04/07/2019 17:48

I'd pay a one-off of maybe £2.49 to buy an ad-free app, but I wouldn't pay monthly. I'm an android user anyway.

HobbyIsCodeForDogging · 04/07/2019 17:49

No. There is absolutely nothing that would make me pay any money to use MN. I'd just stop using it if I got fed up (which I have done; I dip in and out)

managedmis · 04/07/2019 17:51

No.

I'm on here all the time but if you started asking for money I'd have to go elsewhere. Dunno why really, but I guess I feel it should be free?

managedmis · 04/07/2019 17:52

Why would people leave though?

prettyLittlefool · 04/07/2019 17:53

Are we running short of initiatives to bring in new revenue MN??

PeonyPink0 · 04/07/2019 17:58

“Thanks for your answers guys”

Really?

If you were addressing a crowd of 95% men would you say “thanks for your answers girls!”

Hmm
AbsolCatly · 04/07/2019 17:59

Nope and if the trade off was more adds in the free version I think my time would be spent not on Mumsnet

S1naidSucks · 04/07/2019 18:01

looks down Nope, I definitely don’t have a penis.

MmeBufo · 04/07/2019 18:02

I'd happily pay to be ad free but the app is shite AFAIK so being forced to use it would put me off.

lunar1 · 04/07/2019 18:03

Truthfully no, I'd just stop using the forum if the ads became too annoying.

prettyLittlefool · 04/07/2019 18:03

Guys is not the opposite of girls.

Itellpeopletogoogleit · 04/07/2019 18:08

While we're on the subject, is there any chance you'll improve the god awful android app?

S1naidSucks · 04/07/2019 18:18

Guys is not the opposite of girls.

I don’t agree and therefore guys is the opposite of girls. See, isn’t that how it works? Btw, women not girls.

S1naidSucks · 04/07/2019 18:19

I’m currently watching that advert for Howden’s kitchens and wishing I could afford one. 😁

KittekatMP · 04/07/2019 18:22

No

CurtainsAndCords · 04/07/2019 18:38

No sorry

HiItsClemFandango · 04/07/2019 18:45

I would for £2.50 a month if it also included the option to see only the OPs posts also

CupoTeap · 04/07/2019 18:55

No

peachgreen · 04/07/2019 19:20

No, but I would pay a one off fee to download a decent app that actually works, even if it continued to show me ads. The current Android one is pretty shocking (no offence) .
