Would you pay to go ad-free on the Talk App?

Hi guys, I’ve got a bit of an unusual question, bear with me!

Some of you have mentioned you would be willing to pay to go ad-free, so we’d like to know your collective thoughts if we offered ad-free Talk in the iOS app, with some extra benefits.

On the iOS Talk app, if you could have:
- Ad-free Talk
- Increased allowance of photos
- Extra Mumsnet Emoticons

Would you be willing to pay a monthly subscription? If so, what would be a fair amount? This wouldn’t affect any of the existing Talk features, which everyone would continue to get for free.

And it's a no from me too.

feathermucker · 04/07/2019 13:08

It's a hell no from me.

Lamentations · 04/07/2019 13:23

I wouldn't pay for Mumsnet even though I love it and spend too much time on it. It would just motivate me to delete the app.

PolkadotLollipop · 04/07/2019 13:23

No.

I don’t use the app and use an ad blocker which is free.

I don’t post many photos, I never breach the limit.

I think there are already too many emoticons.

ladypenelopeplum · 04/07/2019 13:32

No. Why would I pay to go ad free when I can use an adblocker?

HunterHearstHelmsley · 04/07/2019 13:38

No way.

MadeForThis · 04/07/2019 13:47

No.

rslsys · 04/07/2019 13:49

App users are already second class citizens - no AIBU voting buttons!

GrandmaSharksDentures · 04/07/2019 14:01

Maybe. Would like to be able to see ONLY the op's posts and also be able to message other posters via the app & see my message inbox

El0die · 04/07/2019 14:09

No.
I enjoy Mumsnet but I would not pay a monthly charge for an ad-free version. I'm not overly annoyed by the ads. I didn't even know there was a limit on photos and I'm not an emoticon user, not even a biscuit.
If Mumsnet ever became available by payment only, I would still not pay! It would be a bit like when a great series on TV finishes... you'd miss it, feel a pang, then move on to something else.

SleepingIsOverrated · 04/07/2019 14:11

No. I use the app several times a day and have never used the desktop version... I've never noticed the ads enough for them to be a problem!

VaselineHero · 04/07/2019 14:30

No

pielates · 04/07/2019 14:31

no. I don't find the current level of ads intrusive at all.

ooooohbetty · 04/07/2019 14:42

No. I'd stop using it.

FirstTimeToddlerMum · 04/07/2019 14:50

I wouldn't and I worry that if this became an option the amount of ads for non-sub members would dramatically increase.

WhoWants2Know · 04/07/2019 15:25

I would be more likely to pay a one-off charge for the app than a subscription.

SciFiScream · 04/07/2019 15:31

No, definitely wouldn't subscribe. Only ever use the app and really happy with the way it works right now.

NotAgainSilly · 04/07/2019 15:34

Nopw

NotAgainSilly · 04/07/2019 15:34

*Nope

atomicnotsoblonde · 04/07/2019 15:35

No.

Piffpaffpoff · 04/07/2019 16:16

No

starlingsintheslipstream · 04/07/2019 16:18

No, I wouldn't. I don't find the ads that annoying tbh.

OhNoooNotAgain · 04/07/2019 16:27

Wouldn't subscribe but I would pay a small one off fee to upgrade.

Also require love to be able to skip to the next comment from the op, and would like to get voting buttons!

ExpletiveDelighted · 04/07/2019 16:29

No, I use the mobile or desktop sites and don't find the ads a problem for the most part.

ExpletiveDelighted · 04/07/2019 16:30

It's easy enough to skip to just OP posts in the mobile browsed version using your search function.
