Repeated pop up attempts

Today, while browsing MN, I have had repeated warnings that the site is attempting to open a pop up window.

I’ve never had this before - what’s changed? Is it legit? I’ve blocked each pop up attempt, so no idea what it is trying to open, or why.

(I’m browsing using an iPad mini, on Safari, iOS 11.2ish)

I've had this multiple times today too, and it's just happened again, I too had the VMWare ad showing at the time.

Me too. Chrome on Android. But my blocker doesn't permit them, and I'm not about to allow them to see what they are! Not seen pop ups in years MH
