TESSL - Tech's Exciting Simple System for Links

Tech · 23/05/2007 16:59

Sometimes people ask: "What on earth were you thinking of, making it so complicated to insert a link into a post?" I usually answer, "I dunno really, I must be a bit thick."

To rectify this sad state of affairs, we've added a new way to insert a simple links to another website (or other bits of mn of course). To do so, just type the full address inside and . So to link to our lovely home page you would type www.mumsnet.com without the spaces, and it would come up as www.mumsnet.com.

The old complicated way still works if you want to display text other than the link itself....

We'll update the Links guide to the right of the message box to reflect this.

Regards,
Tech

Specially for Soupy and Tech

SoupDragon · 23/05/2007 18:43

Someone emailed them. It wasn't Cod or me. I think they muttered something along the lines of "we're rather fond of him too" whilst thinking "What complete and utter loons". He's in the mumsnet webguide too www.mumsnet.com/webguide/22.html

SoupDragon · 23/05/2007 18:44

I didn't contact them. Someone did though and posted their response.

SoupDragon · 24/05/2007 12:26

I can't find it.

Tech · 24/05/2007 17:43

The enhancement to this is done. If you type
www.mumsnet.com look at this nice page ( without the extra spaces after the brackets) you get

look at this nice page, which links to www.mumsnet.com.

The hints next to the add a message box show this too. The old syntax still works as well for them as is used to it.
