TESSL - Tech's Exciting Simple System for Links

Tech · 23/05/2007 16:59

Sometimes people ask: "What on earth were you thinking of, making it so complicated to insert a link into a post?" I usually answer, "I dunno really, I must be a bit thick."

To rectify this sad state of affairs, we've added a new way to insert a simple links to another website (or other bits of mn of course). To do so, just type the full address inside and . So to link to our lovely home page you would type www.mumsnet.com without the spaces, and it would come up as www.mumsnet.com.

The old complicated way still works if you want to display text other than the link itself....

We'll update the Links guide to the right of the message box to reflect this.

Regards,
Tech

I'm now getting used to the new method... it does seem easier, so good improvement Tech.

I liked the old way, but used to copy and paste the /link bit from the box on the right, then copy and paste the link into it.
Now I can't do the old way or the new way

I'm an old stick-in-the-mud and can't quite bring myself to use these new-fangled methods ... am sticking stubbornly to the way I know [where's the boring old fart emoticon when you need it?]

F & Z - if you do a space and then type what you want to say before your last ]]s then it looks just like the old way
