Deletions due to being discussed elsewhere

Hi

I was wondering if this is going to be the case for all posts now? Can they be deleted just because they’re discussed elsewhere?

It’s a public forum of course all posts might be discussed elsewhere, that’s the risk you take when you post online.

Why doesn’t this happen when people’s threads end up on Facebook/twitter pages dedicated to slating MN users? Not to mention the scummy journos who lift entire threads on here but MNHQ are happy to keep them?

I thought you didn’t delete threads unless against guidelines etc? Is this going to be a new guideline? Must not be discussed on certain forums?

MN Reddit trolls is being trolled to fuck from what I can see.

Coconutspongexo · 16/11/2017 16:18

I think you might be right

So, Lost anyone?

Battleax · 16/11/2017 16:30

Nobody made it to the end of the Lost. So nobody knows. It's shroedingers Lost.

Aridane · 16/11/2017 16:36

Can someone tell me who or what were the moldies referred to in this thread (as in before moldies)?

Battleax · 16/11/2017 16:40

Moldies is short for "Mumsnet-oldies". They were an invitation only splinter group who set themselves up a long time ago (ill make a guess at 8-10 years ago) and caused ructions by siphoning off a section of the MN membership to their "select" group elsewhere. Lots of upset all round.

There have been lots of similar groups set up since. Much more quietly.

Battleax · 16/11/2017 16:42

Here it is. Nine years ago. It made the national press, as you can see Hmm

(though the way TWD is going, Rick waking up and it all being a dream might be an improvement / mercy killing Sad)

Aridane · 16/11/2017 16:55

thanks for explaining about 'moldies', battleax - am slightly perplexed that people can get so worked up about an internet forum

all still can't work out the whole Euphemia thing (didn't see the original thread) - despite a peek at the other place - but don't want to go down the TAAT route (or FAAF - forum about a forum...)

Battleax · 16/11/2017 16:57

YW. Grin @ FAAF

(I'm only on season two of TWD, so be kind.)

brasty · 16/11/2017 17:07

I don't know the thread that was deleted. If it was deleted for being referred to on reddit, then this makes no sense at all.
I totally understand vulnerable posters getting slagged off elsewhere. But unfortunately that has happened for years in various face book groups. But beyond that, I do think we need scottishmummy here to say 'its only words on a page', stop getting so over invested in what is a chat forum.

Battleax · 16/11/2017 17:20

What's fascinating is it that it keeps happening.

Noimbrianfromhull · 16/11/2017 17:27

It's mad Brasty!

Someone completely misquoted a MN thread on Reddit and made suggestions that couldn't be backed up - as happens on threads all over the internet.

That poster refused to delete the thread but apologised for getting bits wrong - but only in a way - while still infering that the MN poster had inferred something that MNetters didn't pick up on so saying they weren't completely wrong...and refused to back down or delete.

The MN poster had their threads deleted and MN did that while suggesting it was because of the Reddit thread.

Then this thread happened with a poster winding people up and suggesting they knew the poster of the other thread and might do something (while saying they wouldn't actually).

So now apparently there have been threats on this thread and the Reddit poster says they received a personal email threatening doxxing.

So now people think someone on this thread knows who an alleged troll is on Reddit and are wondering who that may be and offering suggestions while that poster here is also suggested to be a troll and people are suggesting who that might be.

And theories that the person here making 'veiled threats' (that I don't think are) and the person on Reddit who says they have received threats are one and the same person with multiple accounts across both sites.

It's peak troll!

Battleax · 16/11/2017 17:32

It's peak troll!

Calm down. It's just bitching on the internet. Again. I'm sure we'll all survive the night.

Aridane · 16/11/2017 17:35

BattleAx - re TWD, you still have seasons of awesomeness to go

brasty · 16/11/2017 17:37

Meant to say above that I understand vulnerable posters here who who are getting slagged off elsewhere being upset. But unfortunately that has happened for years.

Noimbrianfromhull Is it bad to say I really don't care? Unless the doxxing threat is real?
I am just trying to put off making tea.

Weebo · 16/11/2017 17:38

Threats my arse. She's full of shite.

It gets more dramatic with every post.

All I see is a troll panicking because she thinks her audience is about to turn on her.

Noimbrianfromhull · 16/11/2017 18:11

BattleAx - of course it's just bitching on the internet. I said 'peak troll' because of all the ridiculous hoo-ha about who is or may be a troll and all the frankly bizarre suggestions of who people might be and if people might know who people are here...and there... and in reality...and who has these accounts etc. I'd guess most of it is made up.

Everyone will survive and like brasty - I don't really think much is really happening at all and all the 'threats' and doxxing isn't happening at all and nothing will happen.

Battleax · 16/11/2017 18:20

Good. We can go back to sci-fi then.

It's very heartening to hear that TWD doesn't tail off.

Tea is in the oven. Everyone else has fucked off to their bedrooms. And troll gate is the same.

ReturnOfTheMackYesItIs · 16/11/2017 18:48

I got bored. Zombie apocalypse, no-one is safe. You think they're an important character then suddenly a walker is chewing their throat out.

Again....

FarseAboutAce · 16/11/2017 18:48

Some people seem to be finding it difficult to understand my posts.

To be clear, I said I could Advance Search a poster, and I could find out things about her, and I could make a list of those things and post them on Reddit. Something that has been done, numerous times in the last few months, including yesterday. And which is, apparently, the mumsnetters' concerned own fault for putting too many details online. In fact said mumsnetters are told they should be grateful for this list making, as it will teach them a lesson on internet safety.

I could then make up a few extra lies (note I could again) and post them and swear they are true. This is also done frequently on Reddit. For some reason posters over there seem to be oblivious to this, possibly because they believe everything they read is true.

My exact words were "If I was a right bitch I could". As I am not a bitch, I wouldn't, and I haven't - though again I can't prove it. I have also not posted at all on Reddit, shared information about any poster, or emailed anyone. Is there proof of these emails, by the way, or is this something we are just meant to believe?

I hope that clears things up. Though I accept you don't have to believe me. I don't believe most of what I read on the internet these days.

As an aside I'm embarrassed to admit I had to google TWD.

ReturnOfTheMackYesItIs · 16/11/2017 18:52

I understood your posts Farse. You were making a valid point.

But some people do love a drama and are a bit paranoid.
