The next time you send an email about a poster to that poster by mistake. Probably best not to refer to your users as 'these people'

She does explicitly say she's xxxxxx in that PM, so it's pretty clear cut, surely? Must we get into a dialogue with these people, can't we just ban and ignore? I don't see how our purposes are served by letting her know we know, better to build up an IP profile to try to catch her faster the next time?

Oh. My. God.

CheeseonTwats · 23/08/2017 17:57

Ah I'm cringing for the sender.

endehors · 23/08/2017 17:57

Solomon - the person in question isn't a troll. But wouldn't you say that it's inappropriate way to discuss Mumsnet posters behind the scenes?

Hahahahaha123 · 23/08/2017 17:57

Suspended poster who has posted on here for 10 years.

Ow.

TheRealBiscuitAddict · 23/08/2017 17:58

I think realistically most business owners think that way about some of their customers.

However, most business owners are savvy enough not to make that fact known. This is a bit like Ratner's comments about his products which led to his business going down the drain.

WhamBarsArentAsFizzyAsTheyWere · 23/08/2017 17:59

I've done that with texts before and that was cringe enough Grin

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 23/08/2017 18:00

I don't understand the context to be honest? Are you a previously banned poster? If so, I don't think lumping PBPs in a group called "these people" is particularly offensive to be honest

If you're not a PBP and thought you were having a legitimate discussion with MNHQ, I agree that it is crass

As with everything, context is all

HastingsLikeTheBattle · 23/08/2017 18:00

Oops!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 23/08/2017 18:00

Why were you suspended?

ZeroFuchsGiven · 23/08/2017 18:01

Whoopsie Grin

krummymummy · 23/08/2017 18:02

Awkward. They don't know that we know they know we know....

LonginesPrime · 23/08/2017 18:02

we don't pay to be here

Because we're the product. The advertisers are the customers.

PBP? This thread will go pfft.

Hahahahaha123 · 23/08/2017 18:03

Suspended for Troll hunting. Ah maybe the troll hunters are referred to as 'these people'

OP posts:
DCITennison · 23/08/2017 18:03

SoupDragon "i would have thought that "these people" referred to a small subsection of posters who are tossers."
Absolutely.
Similar is said by staff at your child's school/Gp surgery/local authority/supermarket.
I can't abide the precious princess mentality of some people.
Don't blame mnhq for getting frustrated by posters from time to time, why wouldn't they? Doesn't everyone at times?

TheRealBiscuitAddict · 23/08/2017 18:04

Given the fact that MN HQ have been banning posters for all manner of spurious reasons of late including posting on Charly Gard threads and posting on the threads which turned out to be a fraud and even for reporting said threads, it's a bit low A, of MN HQ to be posting posts along the lines of that they'll build up a profile to catch someone out, but equally low of a poster to email MN HQ to tell them that a banned poster is sending them PM's admitting to who they are usually.

PBP certainly doesn't equal previously a troll. Anyone who believes that MN HQ ban for those reasons only is mistaken.
