The next time you send an email about a poster to that poster by mistake. Probably best not to refer to your users as 'these people'

Since this is going to be deleted soon, may I guess you're Stratters OP?

What a ball ache you're going through Sad

Violetcharlotte · 23/08/2017 18:39

I think this is the type of email one colleague would often send to another about a customer who is causing issues.

Rooky error to copy in the person they're talking about though!

endehors · 23/08/2017 18:41

Once you're banned I hear they just hide behind the sofa every time you send them an email. (Source Reddit poster). Surprised you got any message at all.
That seems to be the usual Mumsnet policy. No warnings, no ban notification, no email, just an inability to post. I suppose OP ought to be grateful she received any communication at all from them Grin. Sorry!

I expect the OP will be Banned and this thread will be deleted.

Serious data security concerns about such a lackadaisical approach to communication, though.

TestTubeTeen · 23/08/2017 18:45

So, you are either a troll or a troll hunter?

Or did you REPORT a troll or troll hunter, and the e mail is referring to whoever you reported?

I don't see why calling a group you are referring to as 'these people' is automatically bad. In this case the people referred to are trolls or troll hunters.

This whole thread sounds like petty point scoring about not much. Confused

endehors · 23/08/2017 18:45

Sounds like she just has been, Saucery.

Saucery · 23/08/2017 18:47

Well, whatever the ins and outs of it all, how can we be sure our details won't be compromised in future?

MimsyBorogroves · 23/08/2017 18:48

Fabulous, shows what a fair few of us have said about their attitude is true.

Ninjakittysmells · 23/08/2017 18:49

I'm just posting this here to see the deletion message on this one - what a cock up!

endehors · 23/08/2017 18:50

They really need to make some sort of explanation before they press the delete bottom.

TheRealBiscuitAddict · 23/08/2017 18:51

Well, if she reported a troll and HQ are waiting for the troll to trip up before they act then there's a greater context surely? After all, the troll may continue trolling, may be called out as suspicious and may then have posters banned because they're troll hunting even though HQ already know that it's a troll.

How many trolls get away with trolling for weeks and months and when they are banned people say they've been reporting them for ever? If MN HQ already know that they're trolls even down to the fact that the troll has revealed themselves in a PM to the OP (who was banned for troll hunting) then that's a pretty low way to act, the 'these people' remark not withstanding.

How long had people been reporting the most previous troll for before they were banned? People were even banned for reporting, and no-one had called out that troll on their threads but bans still happened. Did HQ know then that they were a troll? A fraud? Someone out to extort money from posters?

WorraLiberty · 23/08/2017 18:51

Unless I've totally misunderstood, all HQ meant by 'these people', was 'these people who re-register while suspended/banned'? Confused

Saucery · 23/08/2017 18:51

Wish they'd delete my bottom Sad

Mysterian · 23/08/2017 18:52

The thing I don't get is that surely they would be better off giving temporary bans. A temp ban would give somebody a chance to cool off. A permanent ban would mean they just change IP address and re-register, only this time they're not attached to their identity so are far less bothered about posting guidelines.

sobeyondthehills · 23/08/2017 18:52

Its not Stratters, she is back, saw her post the other day

The reddit group certainly confirms that doesn't it.

Where is this Reddit group?

Mumof56 · 23/08/2017 18:56

MNHQ will be along quick enough if we start discussing out TV watching habits.

TheFaerieQueene · 23/08/2017 18:56

MN will manage the forum to ensure that advertisers stay. If that means managing out (banning) members or shutting down subjects, then it will happen. This is a business (albeit one built in the posting of its members).
