Mumsnet Live Event - What would you like to see?

We're looking at hosting a Mumsnet Live event in 2018 (at Birmingham NEC) and we'd love to hear about what you'd like to see (or rather not see).

The idea is to transport Mumsnet from the world-wide web to RL.Whether you decide to bring the kids for a family day-out or come alone for much-needed relaxation and inspiration (and hook up with other Mumsnetters), there will be something for the whole family, including:

  • Talks and panel discussions with inspiring speakers; from authors and bloggers and food writers to parenting experts and psychologists and thought leaders.

  • health and fitness workshops and masterclasses

  • Style and beauty demos plus opportunities to talk to experts

  • Food tasting and cookery demonstrations

  • Entertainment for you and your children through music, dance, and art

Let us know what YOU would like to see at Mumsnet Live by 10am Friday 16 June. Everyone who joins the discussion will be entered into a draw to win £100 voucher for Love2Shop.

Relaxation pods where you can book 15mins of peace and quiet Smile

Other than that, zones devoted to the different groups or interests - I'd love to meet the lovely Woolly Hugs crew in the craft zone. Cookery and product testing in the food zone and PigletJohn in the Home and Garden zone.

Real, live product tests would be good. Opportunities for meet ups - perhaps a 'coffee shop' area where you could book a table for an hour to sit down with other mmnetters.

Plenty of space for really inappropriate parking.

Reow · 06/06/2017 19:05

A padded area with pallets of buns for a real live bun fight.

Reow · 06/06/2017 19:06

And a MIL crèche for dropping her off to be looked after for the day.

TheTombstonesMove · 06/06/2017 19:07

Regional meet-up points to find MN-ers local to you?

TwoLeftSocks · 06/06/2017 19:11

Parenting advice / representation from special needs and mental health charities.
A quiet sensory-calm place.
Definitely a bunfight arena.

You could designate Hall 3 as the middle class one Grin

glitterglitters · 06/06/2017 19:25

Maybe some companies that specialise in fixing darked on washing?

TwoLeftSocks · 06/06/2017 19:28

A swearing tent, for having a jolly good swear.

TiggyMP · 06/06/2017 19:43

Good idea about inviting thought leaders. Nothing worse than going to an event and letting people think all willy nilly and ending up with the inevitable tragic consequences.

Could I suggest a man-crèche? A shed somewhere in the NEC full of papers, magazines about manly topics, and a big table of Lego?

Sparklingbrook · 06/06/2017 19:45

With the best will in the world will it not just be The Baby Show #2?

TwoLeftSocks · 06/06/2017 19:49

The Baby Show doesn't have an AIBU Booth though does it?

Mumsnet Live Event - What would you like to see?
Sparklingbrook · 06/06/2017 19:54

No probably not. Grin If Judge Rinder could man the booth that would be good.

But thinking about this concept seriously will it not just be full of people with babies/toddlers in buggies looking for advice on getting baby to sleep etc and good nursery furniture?

I could be wrong.
