Hello, hello,
Tech's feeling very brave and has said we can start playing with the new toy he's built us - Mumsnet local . The idea is that it's going to be a guide to all the best stuff for parents and kids in the UK, broken down by geographic area.

It is still very much in it's infancy and so we are not going to add navigation to it from the menu bars for a wee while whilst we (ie you pretty please!) refine and improve it. So please, please take a look and fill it up with lots of great listings because obviously it's not going to be much cop until it's got something in it, and right now it's a bit sad with only a couple of north london hotspots added .

By way of added incentive anyone who adds a listing will be entered into our competition to win a trip to fairy school

So please do take a look, add as much as you can and let us know of any problems/ suggested improvements.

how do you add a place?

Was just about to ask that mamag!

Have just been playing with it - you click on the map where the place is and a box pops up asking if you want to add a listing.

Type in the postcode or town where the place is and a map appears

Hi MamaG, on that first page, put the area you are interested in and click find. On the page that comes up, either click the map where the thing you want to add is (if you are on the map page), or click the link in the box at the top (smallish print but says "if you'd rather add a listing without the map go here").

what stuff do you want us to add? all child related? or anything that may interest parents in general (like a pub with nice food for lunch, but not neccessarily child friendly)?

OK - first listing was fine I clicked on without map.

Just trid to add Woolacombe beach - so I searched for Woolacombe, clicked on teh genearl area and it just zoomed in a bit - how do I get it to actually give me the boxes to fill in?

added a place for you, was fairly easy to use it, apart from the fact that i had to map read and i couldn't turn the screen upside down like i do the road map

agree with mamaG - if the thing wants filling up before its any use, it needs to be jolly very easy to fill it... even for dunces and time/patience-poor mamas!

Tried clicking on the map to add a listing but no form appeared (I can us the sep link though). I'm using Safari on a Mac - is this a problem?
