Please can we have a trans topic. The site is over run with trans threads and I'd like to be able to hide the whole lot of them.

You get sand on your eyeballs

Sage advice there...you can thank me later

No. I don't have to do anything.

Who said you have to do anything? Hmm

Wow OP, have you really posted a zillion times on trans threads?Shock

Sorry cote. You are quite correct. You said I need to talk, ask and more importantly read.

No. I don't need to do any of those things and it is totally presumptuous of you to instruct me what I need to do. You are not my keeper

So you contributed to trans threads mostly by stating a person with a penis is a women. Some posters agreed with you and some didnt but because your view that a woman can have a penis was not shared by all you have now decided trans threads should have their own topic.
Seems a bit like you are having a tantrum tbh.

Shouts of trans hate/transphobia litter most if not all of the trans threads, in my view if mnhq gave trans its own topic they run the risk of being accused of creating it just for trans hate speech.
I doubt they want to leave themselves open to that interpretation.

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 06:53

That's your perception. Possibly they might feel that but it's up to mnhq.

The threads in the last day or two have been very hostile to hq.

FFS, just don't read them. It isn't hard.

Plenty of posts I don't open but don't whine about them.

SookiesSocks · 23/03/2017 07:02

It is up to mnhq and the countless threads before yours asking for a trans topic did not result in one either so I get the impression its a no.

The reason you give of "I dont want to see them" just isnt enough is it. Its very self indulgant and a bit daft when you think nobody forces you to read any thread....so just dont.

Report
Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 07:05

Well that may be but then I view the repeated starting of trans threads as self indulgent.

But, as I have said, it's up to hq.

University - I suppose you can choose to remain naive and uninformed. I did not realize that was a desirable outcome for you, which is why I said that you need to talk, listen, read (for better understanding and awareness).

Before you go off saying "How dare you call me ignorant. I know everything" etc... No, you don't. The stuff you have posted, such as "What if a woman doesn't have any eggs, is she not a woman" and your answers to others' posts clearly show that you have not given this topic more that's a few minutes' thought.

As I said, stick around and see what you think some time later.

I'd like the option to filter so could hide all of them. I agree with quite a lot on trans threads but there's nothing new now. Just the same people saying the same things.

And people don't check what is already there (this isn't exclusive to trans threads) so you end up with several saying 'this is not a woman!' or whatever.

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 07:11

No cote. You have no idea what I have or have not done.

I have merely reached a different conclusion to you.

Question was asked and answered a few months ago. Of course MNHQ could change their mind if they felt circumstances had changed.

I don't think it sits right with the ethos of the site to create such a topic - transgenderism is discussed here as a women's rights issue or in the news or parenting, these topics exist already. Plus topics are generally created on request by those that want to use them rather than because some posters want a subject forced off the main boards.

Why are they self indulgent Uni?

Are the threads expressing concern that male sex attackers are being placed in womens prisons leaving women vulnerable self indulgent?

Or that a rape is being reported and recorded as being committed by a women....with a penis was that thread self indulgent?

I see them as important concerns that affect men and women so I am struggling with your view that they are self indulgent can you explain your stance please?

Im

I would like a mil and parking filter but I accept that this forum has many members who enjoy those threads and I am not a big fan of censorship so I just dont read them.

It's the same issues rehashed over and over.

But. It's up to hq. And I will totally respect their decision.

Like the countless mil threads or the parking threads or the pram vs buggy threads then?

*should say pram vs wheelchair.

Trans threads come up because it is more about women and children than transpeople. They are usually started because of a news report - not just to talk about Transpeople.

Just don't open the threads or contribute. I get bored with parking, mil, wedding, breastfeeding. Just ignore.

I'd like there to be a trans topic.

And I disagree with those people who say that it should only be done at the request of those who would use the topic, because there is precedent (eg Ebola) where it was done because of the volume of threads leading to complaints. And MNHQ moved threads started elsewhere to the topic, so that the expert posters could conveniently see them together.

In your opinion.

To people who are interested, it is an ongoing controversy which is unfolding before our very eyes and merits discussion.

Sounds to me that you want a topic created because you are not terribly interested and some posters disagree with your opinion.

Report
SookiesSocks · 23/03/2017 07:35

Mil threads can run for 100s and 100s of posts as can parking threads I dont think mnhq want a drop in contributions. Busier threads I am sure are good for business.

What is so difficult about not opening threads though Uni or if you open it read the OP and its of no interest yo uou closing it again?
