Why is MN so slow?

I'm not moaning - honest!

But Mumsnet s very slow - all the time. There's definitely nothing wrong with my internet, I have 200MB download and all other sites are fine.

I just wonder why this is? Are you throttled?

Terrible tonight, can't get on at all on ipad, (safari, desktop), have only just managed to get on via laptop, chrome, desktop. Up till five minutes ago it was just showing a blank page, and on 'is it down right now' website it was saying Mumsnet was down for maintenance.

WTF is going on, MNHQ?

Why the lack of input from you on this thread? It gives the impression that you don't really give a shite.

Come on, sort it out PLEASE

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 24/01/2017 21:24

I'm actually not getting any adverts at all, just noticed,.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/01/2017 21:26

Shock I'm so sorry everyone Blush

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/01/2017 21:26

Well there's an upside to everything, Its.

I was trying to post on this thread when it went down. It has been very slow tonight.

FuckOffDailyMailQuitQuotingMN · 24/01/2017 21:26

Did it crash? Is it a DOS attack?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/01/2017 21:27

Just don't do it again, OYBBK.

Think it, but don't even whisper it. Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/01/2017 21:28

Is it just a case of too many people for the amount of server space available? or is mn being ddosed?

PidgeyfinderGeneral · 24/01/2017 21:28

It's been getting progressively slower tonight, even on a PC, then crashed completely.

MN, I'm sure you're doing everything you can but few things annoy users more than not being told what the problem is and what you're doing to fix it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/01/2017 21:29

Grin Rafa, that'll teach me for being nice and positive!

and x post with Fuck.

Really bad tonight

FiveShelties · 24/01/2017 21:31

Tonight has been the worst ever, just kept loading white pages.

MadisonAvenue · 24/01/2017 21:34

It's actually improved in the last few minutes.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 24/01/2017 21:38

I think it has improved becuase they have turned off the adverts...

PinkPancakes · 24/01/2017 21:39

Yes sudden improvement here too.

PinkPancakes · 24/01/2017 21:39

I still have the ads on..

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/01/2017 21:41

I have an adblocker, so no idea about the ads.

tribpot · 24/01/2017 21:42

I've turned off my ad blocker - there are small ads at the top of the page but so far I haven't seen any of those dreadful ones that scroll down the sides of the pages.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 24/01/2017 21:42

Interesting, I'm on the mobile site, with pages loading fully (and quickly) and no ads...

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/01/2017 22:00

Awful for me earlier, pages weren't loading at all so I gave up. All other sites were fine. Bit faster now.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 24/01/2017 22:07

Very slow here as well, on iPad, keeps crashing saying no internet connection when all other internet apps work fine

WaitrosePigeon · 24/01/2017 22:07

It's really bad tonight

CarolineMumsnet · 24/01/2017 22:18

Hi everyone. The site was down for a little while. We flagged to tech who have worked quickly to resolve the problem. They are also keeping an eye on the speed issues. We totally appreciate how frustrating this is - thanks for your patience and we will keep you updated on any further developments via this thread.

icyfront · 24/01/2017 22:31

Thank you, Caroline, and also tech. It's been frustrating/worrying, but we know you look after us.

TheNiffler · 24/01/2017 23:02

Is it working yet? Actually gave up trying today, first time in 7 years. Unbearably slow.
