Why is MN so slow?

I'm not moaning - honest!

But Mumsnet s very slow - all the time. There's definitely nothing wrong with my internet, I have 200MB download and all other sites are fine.

I just wonder why this is? Are you throttled?

I am just about to give up on using the site. On a notebook and using Chrome - multiple attempts needed to access the site and go from thread to thread. Often freezes when I comment and I have to go through it all again (or give up). Will see what happens with this comment.

It isn't https when you enter and send your login details ...it really isn't.
If tech think it is secure - is there some fake mirror site thing going on?

Because while the specific login process is secure, the rest of the page isn't. That is a pretty unprofessional way to.do things though and they should really make the whole page show as secure in all browsers to prevent concerns like this.

On Firefox - on some web pages I get the insecure message and it says it is partially insecure eg images are not secure -
On MN log in (from the top button) it says the whole page isn't secure -more info
technical details -Connection not encrypted. The website www.mumsnet.com does not support encryption for the page you are viewing - and that is the log in page!
(And then info not encrypted can be seen by others on the internet etc)

If I go to next page it takes about 25 seconds. Normally 2 secs!!!

Mumsnet I fear your tech team are under skilled/staffed for the scale of site. It really is the glitchiest website I know.

I don't mean to be rude, MN, but what the actual fuck? Please can you tell us what is going on and what you're doing to investigate? Lots of us know about IT stuff so you can be honest. It would just be really helpful to not be fobbed off with 'ooh sorry, we're looking into it'.

I'm now getting gateway errors on longer threads, site speed is ridiculous.

For a massive site such as mumsnet I'm really surprised at how long it takes them to resolve issues such as the speed and being redirected to dodgy websites etc.
