Why is MN so slow?

I'm not moaning - honest!

But Mumsnet s very slow - all the time. There's definitely nothing wrong with my internet, I have 200MB download and all other sites are fine.

I just wonder why this is? Are you throttled?

If I understand pingdom correctly, only 21% of the content is from Mumsnet, the rest is ads, etc.

I'm afraid I do have an adblocker, specifically installed because of the grief mn adverts give me, but even with that, its slow. I'm not sure how it works in terms of blocking scripts though.

Hooray, seems to be back to its normal speedy self here (Chrome, on laptop). Not sure if Techs have worked their magic, or just coincidence?

Still keen to have security concerns officially explained and addressed, though, please.

Couldn't get on at all last night - phone or browser. today just painfully slow on the browser (and that's on a university superjanet connection...). Don't dare try on my phone.

It's certainly not back to normal here. Just timed out trying to get on to this thread with a server taking too long to respond message.

Still frustratingly slow.

I was going to say like Autumn -back to normal - but now it is really slow again...not as slow as yesterday but still painful.
Other websites - fine.

And I do have 'fast' broadband .... just run a test - ping 22s, download speed 50.02 Mbps, upload 9.42Mbps
I can stream HD video with (practically) no buffering - but it takes 30s+ to load a page on text based forum...something is not quite right there...
And I have just had three attempts to post this...by the time I manage it will be more...

Just to reassure you, we are on the case. We know it's incredibly frustrating but we will get this sorted ASAP.

you have something going on and its getting worse.

It's been awful this week. Safari on iPad. Takes multiple tries to turn the page or open a thread. I'm losing the will and the patience.

And I loathe the way the page jumps after the ads load at the top so that you click on the wrong thing, which then takes aaaaages to load and then go back and try again and the same thing happens and aaaargh!

Even with ad and tracker blockers the site is still intermittently (though more often than not) slow.

As an aside, I'd love to know why MN has so many trackers. Not a single site I've visited in the year or so since I installed a blocker has come close to the amount MN has.

It's utterly, shockingly dire tonight. It took me 3 attempts to even load this thread. I'm trying to think about how else I can fill my evening as I can't cope with the shite loading speed all night!
