Spotting people who you know in RL on MN - What is the MN etiquette?

I'm sure it's been done before but what is the accepted MN etiquette when you spot or think you have spotted someone you know in RL?

UmSami - CAT is now CAM = contact another mumsenetter, where you can send a msg to someone via the site

TheBlonde - I had a similar thing, CAT'd the person and they never replied. Left it while, then 'spoke' to them on a thread asking them to CAT me. Nada.
