Mobile site keeps freezing up

I'm on Silk Browser on Kindle Fire HDX.
For the last 3 days, the site freezes, refresh goes on for ages, threads disappear half way down as if only half the page loaded and I have to shut the tab and start again each time.

Yes, sorry to say, the problem still exists. Is this to be a permanent feature now?

The only other website that behaves like this, for what it's worth, is a Johnston Press website that I sometimes look at which is heavily over-loaded with advertising banners and those embedded AdSense blocks.

Catzpyjamas · 29/10/2016 22:38

Hello, MNHQ, are tech any further forward with fixing this problem?

JosephineMaynard · 30/10/2016 00:52

Seems to be working pretty well on the kindle at the minute. Is the problem fixed, or am I just lucky because most people are asleep in bed?

HarrietVane99 · 30/10/2016 00:57

It's better than it was, but not completely trouble free. Sometimes today/yesterday I've been able to read through a thread, then sometimes it stops working again and I have to close the tab and reopen it every couple of pages. Previewing/posting sometimes freezes up too.

FlissMumsnet · 30/10/2016 21:01

Glad to hear there's been some improvement but clearly the issue isn't resolved so we'll flag this one up again. Sorry it's a slow process! Blush

LineyReborn · 30/10/2016 21:23

It's still difficult to post etc.

Catzpyjamas · 30/10/2016 22:07

Thanks Fliss, I'm not seeing any improvement tbh. Still have to close mumsnet every few pages.

Just logged on and after one page it froze. Another update due MNHQ as tech seem unable to sort or offer any advice. Mind you still think they are hoping we will just go away and stop moaning?

TamzinGrey · 01/11/2016 07:25

Still freezing every 2 or 3 pages for me. Can't believe that this hasn't been sorted yet.

Howyoualldoworkme · 01/11/2016 17:17

Same here, surely it should be sorted by now?

FiveShelties · 01/11/2016 17:48

I managed to load a few pages, but it was not possible to post.

It's bad for me again this morning. Silk browser. Even when it does load, it's very slow. And yes, having to keep shutting it down and reload does eat up battery power.

daryldixonishot · 02/11/2016 18:48

I've noticed it's not so bad ear!y in the AM but it gets worse as it gets later, presumably as. more people access the site!

dottycat123 · 02/11/2016 19:15

Really bad tonight again. It had got slightly better in past few days but back to not opening a thread and won't move to the next t page when I do manage to open a thread.

HarrietVane99 · 03/11/2016 08:53

It's horrible for me this morning. Needed several attempts to open this thread so I could post.

LineyReborn · 03/11/2016 09:14

Same here. Painfully slow when it does work, which isn't often.

JosephineMaynard · 03/11/2016 10:13

Tried Mumsnet on the kindle (silk browser) again this morning.

Horrible. Kept freezing when it wasn't being painfully slow. Back on the phone again instead now.

LornaMumsnet · 03/11/2016 10:17

Hello all,

So sorry this is still going on!

We're flagging this to our tech team right now and will get back to you as soon as we know more.

Thanks for the patience Blush

PommePoire · 03/11/2016 10:46

Have been having trouble for three days now, pages not loading, properly, having to refresh frequently and then re-load failure. This is across all devices: Macbook running OS X El Capitan and on iPhone 6SE running Version 10.0.2 and iPad which I can't be bothered to go upstairs and check but its running Version 9, I think.

MaryManchego · 03/11/2016 10:52

Freezing a lot for me too, Android /Chrome.

AmyGMumsnet · 04/11/2016 10:21

Morning all

Thanks for your patience with this one.

Tech have an idea of what could be causing the issue, and between 10.30am and midday today are going to be testing whether this is the case or not.

Could we ask you to try and use the mobile site during that time and let us know on this thread if you still experience the issue please?

Thank you! Flowers

TamzinGrey · 04/11/2016 11:19

I've been using the mobile site on my Kindle Fire Silk browser for the past half hour and am delighted to report a massive improvement. Everything seems back to normal, with not a single freezing episode. Such a relief. Well done Tech - please leave it alone now and don't do any tweaking. Smile

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/11/2016 11:22

Rowgtfc72 · 06/11/2016 09:18
