Thread deleted
Message from MNHQ: Thanks so much for all the reports about this.

Although there has been some interesting debate and discussion, we do agree that the OP and some of what ensues is disablist, so we have decided to delete.

how can these be interesting debates??
\not long ago mn hq said that they were going to be quicker dealing with this stuff
what happened??

Rowan

Be fair and post the whole quote.

That is nasty and disgusting cutting it off before it important bit.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 18/08/2016 18:13

I knew you'd whitewash!
I KNEW IT!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 18/08/2016 18:13

It's not really very great for HQ to take sides in an argument.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 18/08/2016 18:15

Can i have the adress to send letters to please MNHQ i'm goign to take legal action with this one.

RowanMumsnet · 18/08/2016 18:17

@Jasonandyawegunorts

Rowan

Be fair and post the whole quote.

That is nasty and disgusting cutting it off before it important bit.

We think that is the whole of the relevant post - it's what was being quoted by other users directly after the deleted post, when they had just seen it and still had the undeleted post in front of them. But we'll get Tech to dig out the whole thing and post it up when we've got it. (Because it's a deleted post on a deleted thread it's a bit trickier than normal).

Sorry to come in at an inopportune moment - we've been meaning to post this up all day, because our understanding of what happened isn't the same as that of some of you, but we kept getting distracted. Seeing this convo happening now reminded us, that's all. Sorry for butting in!

TheSilverChair · 18/08/2016 18:18

Jason, you are being incredibly rude and unnecessarily aggressive. I misremembered, there is no need to shout. I would still like to see the whole context, though.

"Prove it," you say. How old are you? And it's obvious that you aren't a lawyer, frankly.

RowanMumsnet · 18/08/2016 18:21

Found it - this is the whole quote:

'Its wrong that kids are getting those labels because some of them will just be horrible children, a minority will have a medical reason, but not as many as get the labels.' (So apologies Jason, you're correct, there was more to it than was subsequently quoted by other posters.)

Our postal address is: Studio 6, Deane House Studios, Greenwood Place, Highgate Road, London NW5 1LB.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 18/08/2016 18:22

We think that is the whole of the relevant post
No it's not.

If you scroll to the bottom of the thread in question you will see i quoted it several times.

it's obvious that you aren't a lawyer, frankly.

Prove it

TheSilverChair · 18/08/2016 18:23

You just have. And proved how childish you are at the same time.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 18/08/2016 18:24

"A minority will have a medical reason". Is the same as a majority won't.

heknowsmysinsheseesmysoul · 18/08/2016 18:25

Thesilver - but someone being a horrible kid or a horrible adult has nothing to do with their diagnosis. So it's not a case of 'some kids (or adults) with ADHD/ASD are horrible'. It's a case of some kids/adults are horrible (perceived so by other people) the diagnosis has nothing to do with it so including the diagnosis in the sentence is offensive and disablist. It's the same as saying 'some black people are horrible'. Their perceived unpleasantness has F all to do with their race.

I know many, many people with ASD and ADHD (HCP). Many are wonderful, some inspire no particular feelings/opinions in me. A very few are not very nice people. And they're just not very nice people for reasons that have nothing to do with their diagnosis. But I work with adults - I personally don't believe that any child is 'horrible'.

So I would never think 'I know some people with ASD/ADHD who are horrible' because whatever makes them unpleasant people isn't a consequence of their disability. I just think that I know some not very nice people.

"A minority will have a medical reason". Is the same as a majority won't.

Yes agreed Fanjo, substantially it's as Jason reports it here.

Just want to reiterate that it was deleted though!

Jasonandyawegunorts · 18/08/2016 18:26

Thank you RowanMumsnet Saved me having to p[ull it up from googles cache.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 18/08/2016 18:28

Silver don't go down the road of calling Jason childish please.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 18/08/2016 18:31

Yes agreed Fanjo, substantially it's as Jason reports it here.

Thank you.
surely you can understand how we are tired of this?

Just want to reiterate that it was deleted though!
Do you have a time frame for when it was deleted, i know it was still up when i did my second "fuck you" (Because i checked) post to confusioussayswhat. So it was taken down after the first sweep of the board.... not noticed as hate speech.

DodgySpot · 18/08/2016 18:37

Must.not.swear.

So we have mnhq here now but still no clarification about the stance they took on a certain thread?

I for one would really like some clarification as the what was meant exactly when mnhq said Diwns syndrome wasn't comparable yada yada.

If we are dragging up deleted posts we might as well take a gander at that beauty.

Can anyone get that up? I don't know how caches work.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 18/08/2016 18:38

I don't think legal action would help anyone. But visible action against people saying such things would be good.

And against people minimising them too.

DodgySpot · 18/08/2016 18:38

Bloody phone, excuse the typos.

So annoyed I forgot to check Grin

Dodgy, I think someone had a screenshot of that post in another thread, I'll go and have a look.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 18/08/2016 18:39

Just to let you know i will be taking screen shots of this thread.

Can you confirm there has been no disciplinary action taken against confusioussayswhat?

PigPigTrotters · 18/08/2016 18:42

Sorry, it wasn't a comment from that thread, it was a different one.

DodgySpot · 18/08/2016 18:47

PigPigTrotters fantastic if you can find it.

I've seen mnhq on the other thread about whether they should support disabled charities profess that they absolutely didn't mean what we think they meant.

I want to have the actual post again to make sure I'm remembering it correctly.

And then I would love mnhq to explain exactly what they DID mean by it.

I will be happy to have my fears and doubts proven wrong. It will just require a bit more than 'oh you must have heard us wrong' to do it.
