I must confess I have been mainly lurking on cat related threads and generally posting minimally for the last few days, a) because I've been ill and b) it was all making me too Angry I have had very very high BP linked to illness, which is unusual for me and I am trying to be good Wink

I think MNHQ have put a few good messages up for deletions showing their support, but I don't think the two strikes and you're out policy is being applied. I've just reported a perfect (bad choice of word sorry) on a thread and asked the question so that will be interesting.

The problem is, even if people are banned it's so easy to re-reg which I guess MNHQ can't do much about - of course TSSDNCOP!

I still believe that the ease of NCing really doesn't help the situation and that NCing should be suspended for people deleted for hate speech. The username 484857585855 bollocks still appears to be going too...

Hope you are all having a good weekend folks.

Hi Miffle,

Hope you're on the mend now. Flowers

We've just replied to your report - please check your in-box to see if it's arrived - but we're happy to explain here too.

Essentially, what we've said is that we do have a two-strike rule (and have banned a number of posters already on the strength of this). But where a poster has posted twice in a short space of time (ie before we've had a chance to delete their message or post on the thread or send a mail about our rules on disablist posts) then we may, on occasion, give them the benefit of the doubt. Any further breaches would result in an instant ban though.

The poster in question has returned to the thread to apologise for her posts, which is a step in the right direction we think.

We're doing our best to get the message through and we do feel we're making progress here. Please continue to report any posts which you feel cross the line and we'll do our best to get to them as swiftly as possible.

Many thanks.

Thank you Dawn

DawnMumsnet · 02/07/2016 16:41

Thanks for understanding, folks.

Miffle, sorry, forgot to answer a couple of other points in your post -

I still believe that the ease of NCing really doesn't help the situation and that NCing should be suspended for people deleted for hate speech. The username 484857585855 bollocks still appears to be going too...

We do now have the power to prevent people from name changing (oh yes!) and we've been using this where necessary. It definitely helps. Smile

As for the username1234567 malarkey, we're in the process of changing this as it's utterly confusing all round and very easy for the trolls to hide behind. We'll post more details as soon as we get the nod from our Tech team.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 02/07/2016 16:47

It's brilliant that you are keeping us updated on these things.

Samcro · 02/07/2016 17:25

Interesting
So poster says sorry, then again post the same spiteful rubbish,
What happens now

Fantastic. System is brilliant when it works Wink

MiffleTheIntrovert · 02/07/2016 18:17

I am impressed with MNHQ response on this - very interesting and encouraging that NCing has been restricted.

Thank you MNHQ

AnecdotalEvidence · 02/07/2016 18:46

Excellent response MNHQ - thank you

PinkBuffalo · 02/07/2016 18:49

Thank you MNHQ. The responses from that particular poster on that thread were unbelievable. I have never been as angry reading things on here. Glad you were sorting it out Smile

Samcro - I guess it's because they don't see the disabled child as an actual human being.
