Hey MNHQ. Would it be possible to have a discussion about how SN issues/threads are handled on the main boards.

I know you are fire fighting a bit and I'm not trying to stir things up.

I just think that there are endless threads that require you to get involved and try to (for the sake of a better word) mediate between pissed of posters with no real experience of SN/disability and pissed off member of the SN/disability community.

I think you try really really hard to be fair and even handed. It's an understandable response but I have growing doubts about it.
There have been half a dozen threads recently where posters I recognise as living with SN/disability issues deal with a continuous stream of posts from any random who pops up on a thread making the same stupid, ill informed or frankly goady post.
It's like swimming through a tidal wave of shit.
Then, as posters get increasingly exasperated by each arriving poster saying 'well I'm not putting my buggy away if my baby is asleep' or 'why can't I use the disabled toilet if it's empty' or 'but people with SN can be violent. I know of stabbing someone and attacks all the time' they get rude and the thread descends into eurrgh.

I'm still reading constant posts where anyone affected by disability is berated if they are angry, the message being 'be nice, be grateful or we don't have to be fair'

It seems to me that the status quo of 'fairness' is simply unfair.
Posters already dealing with immense difficulty shouldn't be forced to defend themselves against every person who turns up and says unpleasant things under the umbrella of debate. You said a long time ago it was not our responsibility to educate but the reality is that, with no palpable support from you guys, we are endlessly having to educate.

I am not pretending to have the answer but is it possible to contemplate methods by which you could actually say to posters saying 'if someone in a wheelchair can't use their space because I'm not putting my buggy away' that their comments are wrong and not in the spirit of the site?

You link to the This Is My Child campaign but the posters who are the problem won't care and won't read it.

I don't know - I just wonder if you could think about this.
Sometimes there are not two sides to a debate because only one side is directly affected, exhausted, distressed and having their lives and their children's lives made harder.

That baby changing thread is absolutely ridiculous.

I'm sick to the back teeth of people name changing, purely to post threads that they know will pit one section of society against another.

If they had just the tiniest shred of credibility about them, they wouldn't bother with the cowardly name changing.

All they want to do is kick off a fight and then slip back into their 'ever-so-lovely MN poster' persona, so they can carry on like it never happened, and everyone else probably thinks they're a lovely poster Hmm

BishopBrennansArse · 22/06/2016 16:49

Watch out Worra I got deleted for saying that.

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 22/06/2016 16:51

I reckon worra started the baby change thread!! Grin
Like maryz, playing the long game...

Samcro · 22/06/2016 16:52

what is annoying me is that when you report(as we have been told too) you get told that the op or poster has been around awhile....
yet i can name posters who were here for years and then outed as trolls.

2boysnamedR · 22/06/2016 16:54

For what is worth I'm rather done with talking about Sen on MN.

I'm forever thankful for all the help and handholding I had with my tribunals for my sons statement.

I don't even feel I can offer support on the Sen boards now. Everything turns into a nit picking bunfight.

Also what weird thing to troll about. I find living with a disabled person who you carefor 24/7 a bit shit, depressing and boring / lonely. Not something to do for fun

I argue with iminformed fuckwits every day when they force their BS uninvited onto me. I'm not voluntarily doing bun fights on here while I surf with my cups of tea

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 22/06/2016 16:58

Whats annoying/confusing me is that in an effort to be quick, they have admitted to not always reading the reports? So whats the point in writing anything?

Maybe clearer in an example - One load of people could be reporting for a troll thread and another load for the troll hunting on that thread. Mnhq get loads of reports and head over to the thread, then see the obvious troll hunting on the thread and delete that, leaving the thread up because they didnt read the reports saying the thread was the problem. Iyswim?

I don't even think it matters if it's real or not. Although beggars belief why someone would make that up.

It's all the people who come along and agree and spout dubious views who are definitely real that get to me.

Akire · 22/06/2016 17:06

They don't get that if 95% of posts you read about Disabled posters are negative, being unreasonable, not fair if get "normal" people slightest inconvenience, we constantly get told we are the only one who must make allowance be understanding , put up with less than perfect service. Quite true to life! Just disappointing that they can't see the drip drip effect when being disabled is bad enough anyway.

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 22/06/2016 17:07

Yy fanjo. And all the people saying how are ng everyone with actual experience is, as well as all the bloody disengenuous-ness.

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 22/06/2016 17:08

are ng = wrong

Akire · 22/06/2016 17:08

Thanks beyond my cryptic skills gave up on me there.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 22/06/2016 17:26

I'm going to join miffle until a more firm stance is taken on all this shit and MN becomes more tolerant. Maybe it would make HQS life easier of we all left but I'd hate to see what people would post.

AliceInUnderpants · 22/06/2016 17:59

MNHQ you should be fucking disgusted in yourselves. Get off your arses and actually do the job you were chosen to do, why don't you?

AliceInUnderpants · 22/06/2016 18:02

By the way, I reported a thread hours ago and it's never been responded to. Are you all watching shitty TV and drinking tea?

BishopBrennansArse · 22/06/2016 18:04

No, they're working. Just not responding to any reports based on disability.
Hth

BishopBrennansArse · 22/06/2016 18:04

Oh, and Alice, some of my reports go back to Monday evening, you may have a long wait.

*Interesting prioritising of what to delete on that thread.

We are deleted for being sceptical yet someone can advocate telling a woman with a disability to fuck off and call her a cunt for wanting to use disabled changing room.

Disgusted by that, HQ, if you are even reading this thread.*

Couldn't agree more.

Sadly MNHQ deletion selection feels like a rather low key disablist attitude. To delete a sad face post, yet leave up posts which say I'd swear and threaten a distressed disabled person if they dared to be disabled around me. It saddens me further that there's no mention of reminding posters of tolerance.

They did respond to mine in about 6h the other day but "I was wrong" and pointing out that you shouldn't have to move pushchair out of disabled space because your child may have been conceived as result of rape therefore not a choice and they win!

BishopBrennansArse · 22/06/2016 18:15

Well I have drawn their attention to this thread at least three times in the past four days stating there are still issues.

But like I say they're ignoring me so....
