What prompted this change?

OP posts:
Tinkerbel5 · 15/12/2006 12:02

I dont like it, I think its too 80's, plain and cluttered, please change it back

sandcastlesforanaussiexmas · 15/12/2006 12:03

Agree with RTKangaSANTAMummy, the thread titles contrast needs to be stronger. It needs to come off the page and whack you in the face.

DumbledoresFairy · 15/12/2006 12:04

Completely cluttered and confusing. I know I am in a raging mood right now anyway, but that is it. I am not going to come here if this is how the site will look.

DizzyBinterWonderland · 15/12/2006 12:04

i don't think this colour change is helping.

i feel all wobbly, feel like i'm missing stuff.

the thread titles are merging into the first post on the active convos list.

bettys · 15/12/2006 12:04

This is absolutely vile. Speaking as a Graphic Designer it is actually a far messier, less user-friendly, unnecessary change. The old design was blissful in its' simplicity. I think this will alienate a lot of people. I'm not bothering to come back until someone tells me it's changed back to how it was. It's painful to look at.

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 15/12/2006 12:04

Smoke a spliff, it might help!

Tech · 15/12/2006 12:06

What we are going to do with public profiles - when we do them - is store them under nickname rather than identity.

So I can set one up as "Tech", and people can see it by clicking tech. But they wouldn't see it by clicking "EmbarrassingPersonalProblem" which is one of my pseudonyms.

BUT: you'll only be able to create a profile under you "main" nickname. You won't be able to have one for tech and another for EPP.....

Summink like that anyway. It must be time to eat by now surely. Ooh 12:06. That's lunchtime that is.

MistletoeandPebblemum · 15/12/2006 12:07

Im still having to scroll across to read the entire message if its a long one, i thought that was one thing they were supposed to have fixed.

I want old Mumsnet back

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 15/12/2006 12:07

The colours need to be darker and did this "designer" buy a piece of fabric and pick the colours off it because I presume that is the sample in the top left corner

it is awful they do not go together and more contrast is needed and less clashing

MistleToo · 15/12/2006 12:11

Just trying this see if you just keep typing words and don't put a 'return' in whether the post will just go on and on and on and on and on across the page to that the page becomes so wide it can't get through the door. ajfakjfkdafjkdfjkdajfakfjakfjfjakfja fakjfkafjkafjkdafjkdajfkafjkafjkadkfkdjf f afka fjkafj af afjalfkd jakfja fa faf jakfj al fakfa fka jfka fkajfka fkaj flkafkjakfjafjakfj af testing testing

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 15/12/2006 12:12

I couldn't find it Cliff, did you??

CouldEquallyHaveBeenAnAardvark · 15/12/2006 12:15

You didn't get Cath Bleeding Kidston to do the redesign, did you?

foxtrottothefestivegrotto · 15/12/2006 12:15

please go back to the old layout, this is horrible horrible horrible.

SpookyMadMerryChristmasMummy · 15/12/2006 12:16

Horrid horrid horrid. hate it. and having to scroll left to right is a PITA. can't be bothered with doing that. change it back!

averymerrymonkeymooXmastoyou · 15/12/2006 12:16

I'm not liking the fact that not only do I have top scroll done but also left to right to read the entry...why????

Juicythe2ndnotsowiseman · 15/12/2006 12:16

Is the new layout to fit in more adverts? Now on both side?

The problem is that if you have to reduce the windows - as some of us do for ahem "technical reasons", then you have to scroll back and forth to read the whole message.

New layout = PANTS. Sorry.

DizzyBinterWonderland · 15/12/2006 12:17

i think
everyone
will
have to
promise to
click return
after
every few words.

KTreePee · 15/12/2006 12:18

I think this change is going to help me ne on MN a lot less!

It is not easy on the eye.... sorry if you have paid someone a load of money to do the redesign but I think it sucks...

roisin · 15/12/2006 12:18

I know I'm a lone voice, but I actually like it.

CouldEquallyHaveBeenAnAardvark · 15/12/2006 12:20

Oh, God, you haven't PAID someone to do this to MN, have you?!

MistleToo · 15/12/2006 12:26

Aardy, you're echoing all my thoughts today

ps, this must be your most unrecognisable change of name yet!

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 15/12/2006 12:27

This surprises me too. I can't see that there is anything 'special' and arty farty on here. So why couldn't Tech do it?

Visual flair? Haven't seen it

onzephyrstdayofchristmas · 15/12/2006 12:27

NO no no no no no no no!!! Wtf have you done?!?!? Please put it back!!!

I've got to use the bar at the bottom of the page to read the end of the posts.. what's that all about!?

tessasmum · 15/12/2006 12:28

Oh dear, I don't like this at all.

As someone with dodgy eyesight the fonts are far too small and the type is far too squashed up. I am REALLY struggling to work out what is what.

Has the designer looked at the RNIB guidelines for web design? Not saying it all needs to be included but there is a lot of sensible advice on how to make things clear and easy to read.
We are busy people, usually with children on our laps, and need an easy to use site. This isn't easy at the moment.
