Hello all,
A little bit of advance notice that we are planning to roll out our new look (as per the current home page) to the talk pages tomorrow morning (tech willing). It's mostly cosmetic stuff plus a few very slight modifications to improve functionality - a nip here, a change of hue there. Anyway we hope you like it and do, of course, let us know if there's anything you object to.

Too cramped.

I use 'find new messages' & 'search for messages since' and previously could see all messages clearly and skim all the conversations quickly. Now I can barely see where one title ends and the next one starts.

Like the new colour formats but prefer the old screen layout. This one is giving me a serious headache just trying to read it.

and I hate the fact it's split into pages over the thread..

that is something I find so iiritating about other sites and so much better here

when it's split you can't find previous messages to refer to and it makes it really hard to have aproper discussion (not that anyone wants one these days)

OK the spacing is better, but YOU MUST increase the contrast between the thread titles and info.

Dare I say it 'tickers' are better than this ??

Well, what can I say?

Pros -I like the colours and I like the box for typing your message in, much better than the previous small one.

Cons -the lists of Threads I'm On and Active convos is too cramped, particularly the former. The colour differences of the type for the section heading and thread title are not bold enough which makes it difficult to read.

I'm sure over time and with a bit of tweaking I will get used to it though

Thank you all for your thoughts - we are working on a couple of general concerns:

The threads you've looked at changing colour and the spacing on active conversations/ threads I'm on etc. should be able to fix this no problem.
Do keep giving us your feedback - think like all new looks it may take a bit of getting used to.
Boden sale anyone?

And from a technical point of view, if you going to change, please use proper website coding conventions. Tables are so last year! css should do it all (and with a bit of clever use, you could provide two styles)

Also, think the layout sucks.

Don't know why we need bullet points.
Proper contrast would make the need for them redundant.

NOOOOO - I can't cope, I liked all the easy click, click, clicking. I now have to think about what I'm doing and that is unheard of.

I'll say again, it looks very old fashioned. Looks like a school project, very amateurish.

I quite like the new colour, but it is the space at the sides which is v v annoying. Am sure we will get used to it but I feel a headache coming on.
