It's ok - change is good!

Hello all,
A little bit of advance notice that we are planning to roll out our new look (as per the current home page) to the talk pages tomorrow morning (tech willing). It's mostly cosmetic stuff plus a few very slight modifications to improve functionality - a nip here, a change of hue there. Anyway we hope you like it and do, of course, let us know if there's anything you object to.
Best,
Mumsnet Towers

Barefoot dancer - the 'include special needs' option has been on the site for a little while now - it's not new

My eyes are hurting trying to folow the lines and i have only been here 10 mins.
Feel like a right misery but it is so difficult.

compo · 15/12/2006 09:29

ooh I like it Xmas Grin

olittletownofberolina · 15/12/2006 09:30

Sorry MNHQ - the blue's nice and the posting box at the bottom is neater (nice to not have to scroll down to check how to do links/emoticons etc.) but it is all terribly cramped. So it's a no here too.

MerryMellowmas · 15/12/2006 09:30

Actually .... I am getting used to it now!!

I hate change....

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 15/12/2006 09:31

Oh and while you Mac tech heads are here - can you help me with spam (I'll do a thread elsewhere later - sorry about threadjacking) - I'm getting loads of spam stock tips from different senders, always full of gobbledigook text with the info they want to pass on in an embedded jpeg so that my email's spam finder thing can't filter. Never the same sender twice, never a subject that makes sense. They're not offensive but are very annoying to have to clear out every day. And they've come in on an email account that I only use for kosher things. It wouldn't faze me if it was my hotmail being targetted. If anyone has any ideas, I'd be grateful. Ta.

IvorthePolarExpress · 15/12/2006 09:33

The thread once you open it is okay now. It's spaced correctly again.

The active convos one is far too cramped still. I hope that gets changed, too.

Posey · 15/12/2006 09:33

Finding its giving me eye-ache. Dh is rolling his eyes telling me I'll get used to it soon. I can't find things, its all too cramped.

And I don't mind change.

Sorry

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 15/12/2006 09:34

Oh No This is terrible!!! Really really bad.

I thought my compu was on the blink.
Hate it TBH

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 15/12/2006 09:35

bear I get those as well they keep changing them to defeat the spam filter

me23bottlesofsherry · 15/12/2006 09:35

I don't like it either! it's doing my head in! It was fine before I want the old MN

dingdonglapinroseonhigh · 15/12/2006 09:36

hurts my eyes too, need some gaps between topics/threads I think!

LIZS · 15/12/2006 09:37

Like the blue overall. However on listings like Active Conversations and Threads I'm On, I'm finding I'm finding the contrast in colour in the headings and titles/text too subtle and spaced too closely. Sorry perhaps it's my aging eyes but finding it hard to read! Not keen on drop down menus either I'm afraid.

ClementClarkeMoore · 15/12/2006 09:38

if it looks like this it's horrid

Dottydotthehalls · 15/12/2006 09:38

It all feels a bit too cramped - I'm feeling the need to squeeze my arms in a bit to fit into it!! Colours are OK, but a bit dull?

Sorry to be complaining - I know it takes time to get used to change, but we're obviously none of us very good at it!

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 15/12/2006 09:41

no that new colour you have just put on is far too pale Ineed contrast..I need to be able to see not this namby pamby pale effeminate pastel

expatinscotland · 15/12/2006 09:42

i don't like it b/c i can't see the whole screen for that bar on the left.

ClementClarkeMoore · 15/12/2006 09:43

Much prefer the menu at the top of the page everything seems crushed to one side.
The colours are dull as ditchwater on my computer I liked the brighter blue. It looks 'old fashioned'

It's horrid, horrid, horrid!

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 15/12/2006 09:44

This is really bad. I might have to leave MN for a while, it's giving me headache.

Is it Firefox making it so difficult to read?

fruitcake · 15/12/2006 09:44

WHY are there blank spaces on either side of the screen? Do you lot in the UK have adverts? I have nothing & it's really annoying to have everything crammed into the middle.

Tech · 15/12/2006 09:44

You love it then? I've added some space to active conversations. We are still ironing out some wrinkles as you can probably tell, but we are basically there...

Gingerbear · 15/12/2006 09:45

why the big margin on the left hand side? It is too cramped in the posting part.
