Hello all,
A little bit of advance notice that we are planning to roll out our new look (as per the current home page) to the talk pages tomorrow morning (tech willing). It's mostly cosmetic stuff plus a few very slight modifications to improve functionality - a nip here, a change of hue there. Anyway we hope you like it and do, of course, let us know if there's anything you object to.
Best,
Mumsnet Towers

dont like it Xmas Hmm

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 15/12/2006 09:22

and it doesn't highlight messages you've been on

and it looks a mess all too close together and ..I can't stand it

and it's all full of little crosses where images should be Xmas Shock

BonyMerryxmas · 15/12/2006 09:22

See - Mrs B agrees!

MrsBadger · 15/12/2006 09:23

Xmas Hmm Xmas Grin

although I appear to have lost the ability to do festive emoticons

(also the Report This Post exclamation marks have vanished for me - Firefox 1.0.5.8 under MacOs 10.2.8)

fatwoman · 15/12/2006 09:23

sorry but I really don;t like it - especially when you get lists of threads with no dividing lines - and esp when the list includes the most recent posts as well - really difficult to read and nto easy on the eye.

EniDeepMidwinter · 15/12/2006 09:24

I thought the site had shut down temporarily while all mumsnetters were visiting the boden sale

EmkanaCookTurkeyLikeICan · 15/12/2006 09:24

The colours are okay, but it is all a bit close together, also bad that you can't see which threads you've been on.

And threads I'm on is faaaaaaaaaaaar too close together, needs gaps.

EniDeepMidwinter · 15/12/2006 09:25

you can emkana

its in 'My Talk'

(doncha love that perky and accessible phrase )

IWhoooooshYouamerryXmas · 15/12/2006 09:25

Don't like it at the moment....let's see how it settles down....

jollyhollymum · 15/12/2006 09:25

I can't access messages I wrote earlier today and if I go on threads I started it comes up page not found

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 15/12/2006 09:25

Normal service resumed on Safari thanks - I went onto Firefox to post my previous post, but I don't like change much so I stick with what I know: Safari. However I'm getting lots of blue question marks all over the pages now - is that a Safari issue or a cookie one? It might force me to make the switch. Anyway won't Safari in Leopard be killer?

fatwoman · 15/12/2006 09:25

also I don;t like the fact that by putting a column down the left, the message width has decreased. I like the longer, cleaner lines of before. tbh the new look looks more dated. sorry mn.

MrsBadger · 15/12/2006 09:25

ah yes, and having a different colour for Followed Links really helped keep track of threads you'd read but not posted on - any chance of having that back?

CrocodileKate · 15/12/2006 09:26

When I clicked on a thread to read it previously it would be highlighted in the list. Now it doesn't seem to do that anymore and i don't know what i have and haven't read.
Help..my memory is terrible and this is confusing me.

merrylissiemas · 15/12/2006 09:26

not sure yet, i think i like it, but then i thought i liked chocolate til it gave me migraines. Xmas Grin

EmkanaCookTurkeyLikeICan · 15/12/2006 09:26

I meant that threads go a different colour after you've clicked on them, even if you haven't posted. Xmas Smile

BudaBauble · 15/12/2006 09:26

Right - have given it 10 mins. Still don't like it.

(have visions of Tech banging his head against the wall screaming "there's no pleasing these bloody women".

Sorry - but it is all squashed. Hard to read. I'll get another migraine!

And where have the festive emoticons gone? Xmas isn't over yet is it?

BarefootDancer · 15/12/2006 09:27

Change is fine - but......
Under 'active conversations' why have an option to 'include special needs'
Doesn't make sense - does this mean special needs not usually included?
Include it with what? Bit confusing

Merry Christmas!
Can't get his Christmas hat on either....

pedilia · 15/12/2006 09:27

blimey I only did the school run, came back and all change

LadyTophamHatt · 15/12/2006 09:27

Fucking hell....its awful.

Change it back!

It took me about 10 minutes to work out how to post.

Hate it hate it hate it. and as i'm very PG and very pissed off with EVERYTHING i suggest you listen to me!!!

sweetheart · 15/12/2006 09:27

I HATE IT!!!!!

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 15/12/2006 09:27

yes it needs more GAPS and space - lists of conversations for ones you're on, last hour etc. are extremely difficult to read.

report this post pics are also missing for me, and the festive smileys don't work (using IE 6)

but I do quite like the blue

7swansaswimmingup · 15/12/2006 09:28

fatwoman, youre right it does look outdated
