MNHQ, please may we have Preppers Topic? At the moment we have 'Topic Takeover' on the spare topic of 'Ebola' which is confusing everyone!

We would love to have our own topic to talk about crisis preparation.

We have a Home and Garden section so surely The Bunker would fit in nicely in there? Next to rural living and gardening maybe *

I clearly have lost the ability to format my posts in my excitement over a prepping topic...

If in doubt, MNHQ, tell Sales and Marketing to think about all those lovely new advertising opportunities for Add On Sales.

And it's not as if anyone can criticise you for responding, eventually and after mature consideration, to popular demand from your users.

We really need a preppers topic! What a great idea.

Perhaps if we staged mini take overs in other topics or just kept starting prepper threads everywhere else they would get fed up of us and chuck us all in our own topic?

Any lovely no-cook tinned food recipe inspiration?

Which berries make the best all-round blusher/lipstain?

MIL refuses to learn any useful skills for the bunker but DH keeps taking her side. Should I LTB?

Love the idea of takeover topics all over the boards

Which handbag will be best for keeping my emergency bug out bag items in but still look ok for the office?

How much cash do you keep in the house in the event of a global bank meltdown?

Which sling can double as a shelter for me, DH and our 3 DC?

AIBU that anyone who carries drinks and snacks for their DC is in fact a prepper?

Anyone else think it's a bit weird that MNHQ is just completely ignoring us . Does that usually happen?

No flaming from me exactly, ISpiders. Preparedness isn't necessarily about a Zombie Apocalypse, just disruption to normal activities. (And many of us will have experience of power cuts/floods etc at some point in our lives.)

Low level Prepping:

Got carted off to hospital on Friday. Have learned that it is wise to have a bag packed with essentials, just in case, and have now packed the definitive Hospital Stay Bag. You try surviving Friday-Tuesday with 2 pairs of knickers, 2 pairs of pyjamas, no bras, no deodorant, no pant liners, and a figure of Christopher Eccleston for company :(

What are the thoughts on what to call the topic?

I liked the Crisis Preparation suggested ^

The Bunker is funny but I'm afraid it'd turn into zillions of Zombie Apocalypse threads, whereas I'd much more appreciate a "preparedness" zone to cover lots of different (realistic) scenarios

I do like The Bunker. We're never going to have a prepping area without a million few zombie references anyway.

Another vote for a preppers board, whatever it is called!

I think Crisis Preparation is probably most sensible, but I do long for The Bunker.

TBH, I think give it a couple of weeks and the silliness surrounding the topic will dissipate; if the cat/dog lovers can have The Litter Tray/Doghouse, I'm quite sure we can weather The Bunker. The novelty will wear off for the snurkers, and we can settle down

The board will be what we make of it. Not what others dictate. WE know its not zombies and TEOTWAWNI. The Bunker is tongue in cheek whilst being obvious what it's about, and fits with the other topics quite well.

I vote for The Bunker.

How about 'Just In Case' CountBecula? (I'm not feeling very inspired this morning, I'm afraid. It being Friday, I'm already obsessing on thinking about the sweeties at 19.00.)

"Be Prepared" ? Or is it copyrighted?

If we can't actualky call it 'Preppers' I think it should have 'prepared' in the title, such as Be Prepared or Crisis Preparation.

Although a good point Stratters about The Litter Tray for cat people. Oh I don't know.

I would love it to be called The Bunker. It is very funny.

I prefer Being Prepared, or Preparedness, to Crisis Preparation, because I think some of the things people want to prepare for aren't crises, but any of those are OK. The Bunker is good in a whimsical way and I agree people would take it that way and it'd be fine. Probably not TEOTWAWKI, but if we do go for that for goodness' sake let's spell it with a K not an N

Oh I think it wold always be called The Bunker - informally at least - by people who posted there. ( Whatever final title is chosen.)

How about Threads

Well I can't vote for The Bunker as I suggested it and would look like a bit of a knob voting for my own suggestion but I do quite like the way topics have "tongue in cheek" names on MN eg The Litter Tray, Flouncers' Corner, Cunning Linguists etc. I understand though we don't want to look like wild eyed freaks clutching crossbows and shovels and screaming about zombies.
