MNHQ, please may we have Preppers Topic? At the moment we have 'Topic Takeover' on the spare topic of 'Ebola' which is confusing everyone!

We would love to have our own topic to talk about crisis preparation.

My DH asked me the other day if it would be legal to buy a crossbow for the forthcoming zombie apocalypse and I didn't know. I'm sure MNers would know but if I ask on the main boards my cards will be marked no doubt

Seriously though, even if the zombie apocalypse isn't likely, as pp said, some MNers live in areas where emergencies might happen and I seriously believe a cyber attack or similar will destroy utilities and banking systems etc

Prior Preparation Prevents Poor Performance MNHQ. We will stockpile some gin for you if we can have The Bunker (I've trademarked that but can't do the tiny TM )

While you're all here btw, are crossbows legal?

I don't know about the Legality of crossbows, but now,on my list. It makes total sense.

I think it it is a good idea too - I can't think of a single valid reason against.

I actually had a dream last night that some sort of apocalypse thing causing complete loss of social structure had happened (prompted by a discussion before bed about bunkers v boats) and dreamt we were all forced into McDonalds car park to watch someone being sentenced for stealing chicken nuggets...

I've just moved away from technically-earthquake-tsunami-and-volcano-prone-area so am revelling in my non-emergency preparedness. But I'd certainly pop in and visit a prepper topic because I don't feel quite right without a bugout bag nearby

I Want a preppers board. I Live in a capital city unlikely to be impacted by extreme weather but terrorist attacks and pandemics are possible.

I Frequently have riot police outside my flat as we live near an embassy many people protest against. For the moment I've always managed to get in/out but that might change...and I want to be prepared!

I would absolutely love a preppers topic. I don't know as much as loads of other people here, but I find it fascinating and love to read the threads. I seem to remember contributing six cans of confit de canard to one of the long ago threads about setting up an MNHQ commune in the event of apocalypse.

Yes, sometimes these threads are serious, but they can also be hilariously funny. PLS PLS PLS give us a preppers topic and we promise not to be naughty in Ebola any more.

Seriously, though, there is a YOGA topic. That's pretty niche. Does it see a lot of traffic?

After watching blackout on channel 4 I really think that could happen if someone was determined enough and it freaks me out. Our own topic could be a godsend in those kind of situations so we can prepare for things going tits up

Well swisscheese DH was saying apparently it takes as little as three days before social order breaks down and rioting/looting starts (in the convo which prompted my dream) and I was wondering if we would actually see any difference in the area where we live

Oh and our local McDonalds seems to be headquarters of the looters and rioters, all of whom congregate after dark to rev their engines and ride mopeds around the car park

Ooh yes please MNHQ. Very useful given the weather some MNers have to put up with. Look at that poor gel that nearly got caught up in that hurricane in Mexico. Her first port of call was Mumsnet! well sort of

I would like 'The Bunker' even though MNHQ were resistant to the notion last time it was raised. (Paella anyone? )

I'm sure they have stats on 'Topics that are rarely visited' and could sacrifice retitle one of the lesser used boards. (There are a whole load of topics where no one will post from one week to the next and posters will actually post on Chat or AIBU simply to find traffic.)
