within site rules, particularly, but not only, in reference to this thread;

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2094153-To-think-that-a-lot-of-the-time-having-someone-in-the-family-with-a-disability-does-mean-being-long-term-poor

Have NCed obviously, but MNHQ can obviously see who I am and maybe we can get this cleared up one way or the other.

AAaaaand another thing:- there is a nasty trend developing whereby old soaks MNHQ bods try to make US feel morally responsible for their out of control gin consumption, ranty ranty moan moan............ Wink

Thanks Amy Grin

Smilesandpiles · 01/06/2014 16:48

yeah..I mean if you are going to blame us for your gin consumption...at least share the stuff around!

In fact, that's another question..why isn't there a Gin emotion? MN always refers to gin at least once in a thread.

FidelineandFumblin · 01/06/2014 16:50

why isn't there a Gin emotion?

'Cause they don't share it Smiles Sad

dawndonnaagain · 01/06/2014 16:54

Thank you, Amy!

I just wanted to add that I agree with posters saying there is a pattern and that her posts are nasty in tone.
As a parent with a child in the gallery of This is my Child, this recent nastiness starts to make me think MN isn't even something I want to do anymore; in short, these attacks on disabilities make me feel disinclined to even read MN and return to other media, say online newspapers.
I'm not issuing threats here, I'm just saying, how come one nasty poster stays and some of those she offends can just dwindle away and MN will never know. Is this something you want to happen? The SN boards here will be considerably weakened if other, more experienced and prolific posters get tired of the nastiness and just flounce off! You will end up with less power in MN if this tide of nastiness is not stemmed.

I'm not saying anyone is missing me personally, I'm explaining that the effect of being so fed up and switching off by parents of children with disabilities will weaken your strength and position. I championed you in a radio interview about This is my Child....I'm sorry, but I actually feel a bit disappointed in your stance now.

Perspective21 · 01/06/2014 17:03

Also, I don't feel like doing MN but staying only on SN boards, not very inclusive is if? Come on MN, stick up for us all....please make it clear what you do and do not tolerate and then we can decide if we still want to be part of it....

It has really made me quite cross and I have avoided you (unusually) this w/e.....Angry

Owllady · 01/06/2014 17:10

I must be the opposite as I don't post on the sn board's Blush I post about my dog mainly I think. I have a rhino hide though, perfected over time. In real life these happy type people are avoided or swore at. I have no time for that kind of bullshit

linkery · 01/06/2014 17:17

"although if you could limit it to one report for offending thread..."

But mumsnet have said before that they take more notice/act quicker if there are multiple reports.

So limiting to one report is self defeating isnt it? Hmm

FunnyFoot · 01/06/2014 17:35

Hello

Just wanted to say MNHQ may actually listen to what your saying.

I posted cunt on a thread a few days ago (not my finest hour but it was a sensitive subject) which obviously got deleted.
On a different thread I was reported (not for swearing but for asking her to un-twist her knickers and what I thought was humours retorts) and MNHQ told me to check my e-mail (actually told me on the thread).

They gave me a final warning. Said they had, had many reports and considered me to be goady.

So maybe they will listen to what your saying about HMOO and her posting style/goady nature. Smile

expatinscotland · 01/06/2014 17:39

Many of these problems could be solved if posters are not allowed to name change except with permission from HQ.

FidelineandFumblin · 01/06/2014 17:41

Interesting insight Funny

FunnyFoot · 01/06/2014 17:43

Just kind of wanted people to know that they will do something about a goady poster who gets many reports so if you feel HMOO is out of line then keep reporting but I am not sure I got that across in the right way Confused

linkery · 01/06/2014 17:45

expat. But the poster concerned has been the same name for a while as far as I know.

linkery · 01/06/2014 17:45

FF. But I am confused about the "many reports" bit.

Smilesandpiles · 01/06/2014 17:47

Expat is right though.

For some posters that bully they can simply namechange which can make it seem as though there are a lot more people kicking you on one thread than there actually is.

FunnyFoot · 01/06/2014 17:48

Sorry link didn't mean to confuse it's what they put in the e-mail many reports. So I assumed I had been reported many times.

Smilesandpiles · 01/06/2014 17:50

So they tell posters to report once, yet with others they say to report a number of times?

Fuck it.

Each and every post needs to be reported. Repeatedly by as many people as possible.

FidelineandFumblin · 01/06/2014 17:52

Maybe expat suspects that HMOO is a name just used for nastiness and the same poster has an alter ego for more normal posting?

FidelineandFumblin · 01/06/2014 17:56

Just kind of wanted people to know that they will do something about a goady poster who gets many reports so if you feel HMOO is out of line then keep reporting but I am not sure I got that across in the right way

In that case, I took it the way you meant it Smile

FunnyFoot · 01/06/2014 17:59

Thanks Fide Grin

FidelineandFumblin · 01/06/2014 18:05

there was a hint on another thread that she might be someone else, and having done an AS on that name I found that the poster disappeared after a particularly nasty thread.

??? Confused

Smilesandpiles · 01/06/2014 18:06

So really she needs banning then? I think this is done using the IP address of that poster although don't quote me on that.

ScarlettlovesRhett · 01/06/2014 18:12

I understood the 'one report' thing to mean rather than each poster reporting a single thread loads of times, a single report per poster per thread would suffice (in the case of reporting a poster, rather than a specific post iyswim).

So in this case, each poster that was pissed off by HMOO on that thread would report her once each to say 'she's at it again'.
Especially because nothing she said individually was particularly nasty, it's the overall picture that is built up with all the posts and their tone.

(I'm probably completely wrong though!)
