Slow site-loading times

Hello

We just wanted to say - many apologies for the slow page-loading times and/or connection problems that lots of you have been experiencing over the last few days.

We've had a look at server performance at our end and there have definitely been some periods when it's been very slow to respond.

We're on it and trying to work out a fix. and/or and/or in the meantime - please bear with us.

I think there will be many looking outwards, for a more faithful companion that can deliver the goods

I think the lack of communication is quite annoying for a lot of people. This is a known issue that's been going on for absolutely aaaages, and info/updates are few and far between. I don't understand what could possibly still be broken after all this time

FYI, I get the problem on the mobile site and on the desktop site, makes no difference which browser I'm using either. Never used the app.

The app is fucked too. Hasn't worked for about a week.

Mine's been fine all weekend then today it's slowed right down, coming up with bad gateway, proxy server etc. Taking way too long to load or post on threads.

Chrome on laptop with ad-blocker fully on so that's not the problem.

I'm still getting security warnings, anyone else?

Not sure but site seems to be a lot better,maybe Its because its late and not many using site or they have sorted it out( fingers crossed )

getting random blank pages, partly loaded (ie Active Conversations header of page but no thread listings or menu) pages, sometimes proper pages ....

We're very sorry about this. We know it's annoying (it's affecting us too) and we're doing our best to sort it out. The reason it's taking so long is that we haven't yet fully worked out why it's happening.

We'll get a proper update for you from the people in the know and post it up ASAP.

Right then.

We were experiencing capacity problems because of a combination of increased traffic, new features on Local, and increased use of image uploads. This brought to the surface a previously unknown bug on the site that was causing the slowdown.

The good news is, we've now found and fixed that bug.

So hopefully we're back up to normal speed now!
