Colour code zombie threads?

quoteunquote · 29/04/2013 19:10

I unwittingly contributed to a thread that had for some reason (best known to the person that did it),been resuscitated,

Could you add, a colour bar where the title is, or on the side, that indicates how old a thread is, blue for current, green a week old, yellow a month, orange six, and red year and beyond,

Then people would be instantly aware when joining in with a thread as to when it was started, as clearly a lot of us don't spot the year when on these threads, and some times people carefully choose threads that the day and month match to resuscitate.

Anyway it would be a simple way of stopping the annoying problem, and for people like the person who started the thread in the above link, they wouldn't have to have something they probably rather forget jump out at them, I hope the OP of that thread is happy now.

how is the colour coding going MNHQ

SilveryMoon · 11/05/2013 20:20

I like the idea of the advanced search being in most recent date order.
The colour coding is ok, but would there be a key code on the screen? I wouldn't remember what colour was for what time period so there'd have to be a reference on the page somewhere

quoteunquote · 11/05/2013 20:43

just have a key next to reply box

blue for current, (same as now, cold)
green a week old, (starting to mould)
yellow a month, (pus forming)
orange six months, (septic)
red year and beyond (burned up)

as in reverse rainbow.

Hello

Sorry, not sure where we got to with this; we'll try to find out but it probably won't be until after the weekend. Sorry!

quoteunquote · 12/05/2013 12:56

thanks for replying, it would be nice to have an instant visual clue.

I think this is a great idea Smile. And sorting the threads by date when you search for something would be great too.

Startail · 12/05/2013 13:10

Please colour code, my dyslexic brain transposes numbers, the time date stamp thingy does my head, especially in tiny print on my phone.

Apparently Tech has a 'Tech Queue'.

Who wants to get first in the queue for Tech? Grin

Two or three zombies in aibu this evening.

quoteunquote · 14/05/2013 19:32

feel free to link so we know what to avoid, is it the same person bumping them?

OP posts:
SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 14/05/2013 19:43

I replied on a zombie thread this week, and then someone had the cheek to call me rude when i said ffs! I think colour coding is a great idea.

Also the search results need looked at. Date order is a good suggestion and can they be a bit more accurate too? If I'm searching for a particular phrase, I don't want search results of every thread that contains either word. Oh and while I'm on a roll, I can't work the thing that lets you choose which topics to search. It's ridiculously difficult.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 14/05/2013 19:54

Should have explained I didn't bump it, a few others did. I picked it up on Active.

quoteunquote · 14/05/2013 20:03

someone had the cheek to call me rude when i said ffs! Shock

well I was less polite on the above thread.

I do understand else where on other forums, the done thing is to find an existing thread, so for a new poster an understandable mistake, but I don't think the majority of zombie threads resuscitated are anything other than amusement for the sad person who did it.

come on MNHQ colour code the threads,

I keep spotting zombie threads, I haven't been on here yet and not spotted one recently,

there one on purple shoe polish running now, the child in question must have feet twice the size of the shoes that needed polish now.

What about people who are colour blind?

quoteunquote · 21/05/2013 19:22

Grin good point,

as we age we all lose the ability to differentiate between colours as accurately as we do as children, most people have no concept of their diminishing ability to distinguish subtleties in the colours and tones,

So give each of the colours above a pattern (like sewing stitch indicators symbols on sewing machines) , then all people will be able to differentiate.

I wonder how many colour blind MNers there are?

good forward thinking soupdragon.

SoupDragon · 21/05/2013 21:44

Less than there would be on Dadsnet :)

SoupDragon · 21/05/2013 21:45

as we age we all lose the ability to differentiate between colours as accurately as we do as children

Heaven help DS2 then... He already cannot see the difference between blue and purple at all.

quoteunquote · 21/05/2013 23:15

We can distinguish the most differences in greens, comes from when we went gathering our food, so we "see' more greens than the other colours.

He already cannot see the difference between blue and purple at all

well no art school for him then.
