Women presumably who don't have a certain sense of humour, or don't agree with certain (long standing) posters being described as beige admin workers who nag their ugly husbands, who were friendless at school, wear cheap clothes, have no fun in their sad little joyless lives etc etc Literally paragraphs and paragraphs of nastiness.

This is some of the most vile and misogynistic stuff I have ever read on MN from other women. These kind of comments normally come from trolls and MRA invasions. Is this really what MN has become? Does everyone think that this sort of shit should stand? What happened to the fucking sisterhood?

I am astounded to be quite honest.

Ginhag - I quote you:

"STOP. FIGHTING.

I really want to bash everyone's heads together or something.

There are so many posters I admire on this thread, and apparently you all hate each other.

That's a bit bollocks really, innit.

And tbh, if mn is going to be as stressy as rl WHAT IS THE ACTUAL POINT OF IT AT ALL???"

As a v.v.v. new mumsnetter I so agree with you. I don't know who is who, I just notice the people who post frequently.

And I think everyone should just agree to disagree & stop stressing over the small stuff.

I actually think this is typical end-of-winter-forum-behaviour.

I've seen so many forums go like this at this time of year.

Everyone has cabin fever & is stuck in at home over what, to me, seems like 4 Sundays in a row & is just grouchy & fed up & it feels like PMT 24/7.

Can we just bring this to an end? Please.

YellowandGreenandRedandBlue · 30/03/2013 20:31

Madame - I am sorry if it sounded pious.

Sparklingbrook · 30/03/2013 20:31

((hugs)) Madame. None of the stuff on here really matters. Like LadyBea I use it as an escape on the lighthearted threads.

magimedi · 30/03/2013 20:31

Madame, you have my sympathy. Anything I can do for you?

LadyBeaEGGleEyes · 30/03/2013 20:32

I still don't know what calumny means, cest.

Will go and look it up.

McBalls · 30/03/2013 20:33

You didn't sound pious, Yellow.

I think you got to the heart of it actually. Perfect sentiment.

MadameDefarge · 30/03/2013 20:56

mcb. i applaud the sentiment. but i think that was a post directly to me. with the best will in the world dont extrapolate to a wider question until i have had a chance to speak for myself. thank you yellow. i appreciate it. x

nenevomito · 30/03/2013 20:58

I don't hate anyone on this thread.

My view about the whole 'po' thing goes back to when I was new on here and I spilled my guts on a thread about children in coffee shops as my DS had been badly scalded by some idiot woman and a pot of boiling tea. I was dealing with burns treatments that made him scream and was in and out of hospital with him. It fucked me up for a long time.

I was told I was humourless and that I ruined the thread as people were having a laugh and talking about health and safety gorn mad. I then had people take the piss. It was a shitty thing to do. I also remember who did it.

But hey. Damn the po ruining people's fun eh.

Madame - really sorry that you're going through such a hard time. If you are anywhere near the lakes, I'm happy to help you out.

I'm not really following your train of thought there Madame. I thought you had responded already.

I was just making a general point, that Yellow didn't sound pious. I wasn't telling you how to feel about it.

No offence intended [busmile]

nars · 30/03/2013 21:07

does anyone remember how st george used to do this to these types of threads?

Wink

MadameDefarge · 30/03/2013 21:11

babyheave your experience is precisely the one that many posters fear having happen to them. I've had it too and I too remember who was involved and steer well clear of them now. It is bullying plain and simple. They see someone's unhappy and in emotional pain but they continue and when the OP complains they say it's professional offendedness.

Perhaps now that troll-hunting has been banned PO is the only weapon they have. I'm sure even if PO-calling was banned they would find a new one.

SauvignonBlanche · 30/03/2013 21:19

I remember [busmile]

MadameDefarge · 30/03/2013 21:23

thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts. you see. as mcb says, even in the middle of a ruckus we still actually care about stuff. I've asked MNHQ to delete because it was a bit too much tmi...but genuinely comforted by your kindness. ds has finally surrendered the laptop so no longer forced to post on rubbishest phone ever. yay!

Pan · 30/03/2013 21:23

Crumbs, I've been away at my friend's next door (and Wine was taken) and there's more heat than light on the thread.

fwiw I can't see 'hatred' going on, and there's no-one on MN who evokes that reaction, for me. I'd much prefer to not tip-toe around anyone - I'm shit at that.
It;s a bit annoying when it's suggested I 'derailed' a thread, (or cause trouble on FWR Hmm) when nothing of the sort took place, but that's the level it remains at.

Pan · 30/03/2013 21:25

is it too soon/late for peace and love? [hic]

ruby. go for the latter. honest.

usualsuspect · 30/03/2013 21:30

Best to pretend it never happened,

McBalls · 30/03/2013 21:30

Perfect timing, I reckon. Cheers, you old soak Wine

Btw, am I right in thinking there wasn't always a 1000 post limit or am I making that up?

Pan · 30/03/2013 21:31

I'd go with fingers in ears and humming any national anthem of your choice, ruby

lemonmuffin · 30/03/2013 21:32

Gosh, sorry to hear that babyheave.

That must have been a rough time for you. Hope ds is better now.
