Can we be allowed to post 'oh do fuck off' in certain circumstances. Like when people post 'is that really all you have to worry about?'

I had shiny shit once, I have edible glitter that just passes straight through. Last time I discussed it on here it made the talk roundup.

ODFOD needs a PA :) , possibly on the next line for added effect thusly:

oh do fuck off dear

:)

or can we just have a [headtilt]? A [headtilt] isn't a personal attack, PA or otherwise, it's expressing genuine concern for a poster's wellbeing.

No no no no.

It can be horribly upsetting being told on the Internet to F off. And once one popular poster says it everyone else feels free to pile in. It can be horrible being the only one facing an angry gang swearing and laughing at you and .... Ugh.

Just no.

I've managed to post YAAC & it has lasted for at least 4 hours.

If any one tells me to fuck off - it's no big deal at all. It's only rock & roll internet life. If you can't take the heat - get outta the kitchen.

It is also pretty upsetting to post about a problem and have one utter twat post 'Hmm is that is all you have to worry about op?'

I keep patiently posting 'the op may have many things to worry about but this is what she is talking about just now' but fuck off is sometimes a more apt response to such a spiteful posting.

It is snide and smug and sneery. All my least favourite s words.
(except shiny shit. Of course)

I know what you mean Pagwatch I don't like that either. But it would be abused by people who just like the idea of swearing at people.

One persons hearty riposte is another persons horribly upsetting insult. If one person posts F off and then thirty of their chums join in you've got a bloodbath on your hands. I know I sound melodramatic but this happened to me and I still haven't got over it ten years on. It's worst if you have managed to trust the site to be full of well meaning friends and suddenly you realise you are just today's plaything to be ripped up and spat out.

Pagwatch · 12/02/2013 08:40

I'm sorry that happened to you green.

Fwiw I don't think an unwarranted attack would be supported by 'chums' on here - certainly not without some considerable dissent.

But I think you are slightly missing my point which is that in terms of being upsetting and rude -
'I feel sorry for your children' or 'is that all you have to worry about' are just as bad as fuck off. I think 'I feel sorry for your children' is about the lowest thing you can post on here. Yet people can post that with impunity.

I think telling those types to fuck off would be thoroughly cathartic.

Is fuck off a personal attack? I don't see how. It's not an attack on someone's character. It's not personally insulting. It's sweary but we do that here.

I think we should either be allowed to say oh do fuck off when merited or......

We need a hide poster button

Also. I think you are taking the thread slightly more seriously than it actually is.

I feel sorry for your children is defo a personal attack. A really nasty one. That stands all the time.

Report
greencolorpack · 12/02/2013 08:43

Yes, I feel sorry for your children is a low blow and far worse than swearing. So is people finding out your ambitions and dreams and then saying "she would make a terrible... (teacher, nurse etc)" does that Happen here? I'm glad if the dog pile thing doesn't happen here. I have avoided controversy on this site so don't tend to read the "bunfight" threads much. I don't want to be next.

I think piling in does happen. It is most likely on aibu. But not sort of concerted attacks. It tends to be that a few people post 'you are being ridiculous' and then a bunch of arses start adding more and more rude comments.

It's grim but it doesn't happen that much.

Avoiding aibu is a good tip. You can hide the whole topic.

Pile ins do happen on here, but usually someone will come on and try and calm it down, and give the OP some support.

Report
greencolorpack · 12/02/2013 08:50

I might read the first page and then lose interest. I only post uncontroversially. I'm amazed sometimes by the amount of posters who will tell a complete stranger to ditch their bastard dh or whatever! talk about overstepping the mark!

Sorry if I am taking this too seriously.

Pagwatch · 12/02/2013 09:03

It's a pretty robust website. I think that's why lots of us like it though.
And tbh sometimes women should ditch the bastard.

Lol at disingenuous biscuiting shenanigans!

Is it wrong that I read ODFOD as a word?
Like AIBU = aye-boo
ODFOD = odd-fodd
