Hello. We hope you all already feel you can talk to us at MNHQ anytime - either by starting a thread in Site Stuff or by mailing us or reporting a post.

But we also thought it might be useful/interesting to have a live discussion about how how about we do things re moderation etc...

So, we're hosting our very own MNHQ live webchat!

Please do join us at 1pm on Thursday to ask (more or less) anything you want. And, if you can't make then, do feel free to post a nice question here in advance.

volunteer mods would be awful on here - imagine the cliquey accusations.

But we can still decide if we want an attack on us to stand, surely?

JustineMumsnet · 04/10/2012 13:15

@Iggly

On a more serious note though please can we improve the local pages/boards? I'm a tsarina thingy but didn't get any info on how to update the pages etc. new mums come here looking for info like baby groups etc but end up on nethunsmums as it has much better info.

It's coming, honest. And it's really not far away. We have a new Local Editor, Emma who's busy making loads of improvements. (I'll ask her to get in touch direct.)

Everyone else watch this space!

HelenMumsnet · 04/10/2012 13:15

@MrsWembley

I think you're all lovely but why can't you have a Christmas bash outside of London? In Bristol, perhaps?

Thank you re loveliness. Aw.

We don't organise the bashes, Christmas or otherwise. We leave that to others much more capable than us. Though we're not averse to coming along and drinking the bar dry

Volunteer mods would be awful, unless you picked me

Solo · 04/10/2012 13:16

Ooh! Justine I thought you were going to say Netmums then Grin

Blatherskite · 04/10/2012 13:16

Agree volunteer mods would be a nightmare. The only posters who would volunteer would be the ones that really shouldn't

LtEveDallas · 04/10/2012 13:16

Could Troll Threads be kept but locked, and maybe moved to a Troll Threads Topic?

When they are deleted you get lots and lots of "Whatever happened to..." Threads, lots and lots of "But I don't think she was a troll" and all the useful advice that was given before Troll was called is lost.

??

FrankWippery · 04/10/2012 13:16

I knew MrsDV would come and ask for tickers.

ChristmasKate · 04/10/2012 13:17

Thanks for the reply.

Kicks techs butt into action.

Is there a plan to thin topics as asked up thread?

I would also like a NN amnesty, although I can imagine it would be a lot of hard work

HelenMumsnet · 04/10/2012 13:17

@FrankWippery

Sadly I'll be at the dentist (really truly sadly) so will miss the fun.

Just wondering, like, what the monthly consumption of gin is with you at MNTowers. Also, does the weekend consumption at least quadruple the weekday total?

Who eats the most biscuits and what are your favourite ones?

Pertinent questions I feel. Ta.

Monthly consumption of gin = shocking.

Weekend consumption of gin = truly shocking.

Chief Biscuit Eater = used to be Justine. But now is probably me. Blush

God yes, Blathers. Just imagine.

JustineMumsnet · 04/10/2012 13:18

@Narked

What can we do to make your lives easier in HQ? Aside from discussing nothing but recipes. And not things to do with a mango Wink.

What a sweet question Smile. Erm, be nice to each other, share stuff, tell everyone how great MN is, buy our books, go the Academy courses (they are fantastic btw), use new Local when it comes, click on ads, report transgressions, fill in surveys, give feedback. Kind of all the stuff you do anyway most of the time.

Oh and shout at us less Grin.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 04/10/2012 13:18

God I love gin.

SuePurblybilt · 04/10/2012 13:19

Sloe gin should be good this year, lovely fat early sloes.
Mmmmm, gin.

BigStickBIWI · 04/10/2012 13:19

We all know that Pisstey

Hullygully · 04/10/2012 13:19

Oh yes, dear Patrick promised that if we went as a group, we could have a naked chef. I had quite forgot. Must get on to it.

I've gone all low carb Halo.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 04/10/2012 13:19

Peaked too soon there, was carried away by the thought of gin.....

Blathers is right, could you imagine volunteer mods?

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 04/10/2012 13:20

Further to threads being deleted - could you leave the thread name up for a while with a "This thread has been deleted at the request of the OP" or "This thread has been deleted as it has been determined the OP was a troll" or even just "This thread has been deleted"

Leave that message up for a day or couple of days, would save me time hours of advanced searching for threads I have a vague memory of & want to know what happened but haven't bookmarked.

caramelwaffle · 04/10/2012 13:20

Volunteer Mods would be awful.

I agree with whomever mentioned about the MN Local sections.

Tickers?

No.

One week. 4 days. 7 hours till I can have some honey**

BigStickBIWI · 04/10/2012 13:20

Are you on my Bootcamp Justine?!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 04/10/2012 13:20

a slim gin is fine Justine, just don't tell BIWI....

FunnysInLaJardin · 04/10/2012 13:20

agree with Blather about volunteer mods, the abuse of perceived power leaves me cold
