And why not just delete the 'cunt' post? That was a thread about people wanting to get in touch with/being shocked to find out that posters had left. One person came onto the thread to stir and say it was boring and people should confine themselves to PMs (when the posters have deregged????) and a couple of others joined in to say how odd it was that people had frienships online.

Can't we have a vote? We had a vote about the Daily Mail thing, that was an issue about the character/ethos of the site and so is this IMHO.

Give us some sample posts or phrases, and ask - should this be deleted? Yes/No/Depends on context.
MNHQ wouldn't have to be bound by it, but they'd get a feel for what the community (that's us, dudes ) thinks.

The trouble is that when things reach this stage there's no coming back to where you were. When I first joined nobody talked about 'mummys' or used txt spk and now it's all over the place.

Yep, Mumsnet is supposed to be robust and sweary and occasionally flamey. My very first posting on here (mumble mumble years ago under another name) I ended up getting flamed to buggery. Ah, good times.

MN is not high tech - we like it like that. How hard would it be for someone to set up a forum that offered the same? I happened when Val was banned but only on a small scale. The Moldies one was (deliberately) smaller numbers. An open forum - for mothers (and Pan) by mothers (and Pan, oh and Mr Gin.)

I am coming round to the idea that there is deliberate goading and targetting of regs.

I think alot of the haterz are regulars.

I think a fair few people are having a lot of fun winding up the "popular" regular posters and are sitting back watching the fall out.
