Thread deletions are detrimental to the quality of posting.
Why bother writing long and helpful posts when there is the likelihood of the entire thread going 'poof'?
No point in baring our souls and recalling similar situations in order to help the OP when it's all going to end up in tiny bits floating in the internet ether.
Deletions dilute overall empathy.

Toomany - you're missing my nicked point. I know that you can choose to show your registration with your profile public - I'm saying it shouldn't be a choice, it should be automatic. Namechangers don't link their profile or there'd be no point in doing a namechange, would there? So - registration date follows your registration around regardless of what name you're posting under.

Thanks Justine for coming on and listening to everyone. I have moaned like a miserable arse lately because of the atmosphere on here at the mo, but I really appreciate all that MNHQ do (and it must be an onerous task sometimes) and like the fact that MNHQ listen to their users even if I suspect you want to tell us all to fuck off out of it sometimes

I agree with others that there have been rafts of deletions, and I hope that the madness will lie down soon. Like most of us on here I love mumsnet, but the bloody snippiness has depressing. God knows what it will be like at election time if it doesn't change.

Ok - the swearing thread - which I was on and then sadly life ie the unfortunate need to clean out my kitchen cupboards got in the way and when I got back - poof it had gone.

The message came up (cos it was still open on my lappie) when I refreshed it was that it had gone "because it became a bunfight"

My question is - did it become a bunfight or did it go cos of "goading" in which case I would prefer to see "cos lets face it the OP was goading " as reason.
