Ok, that's enough now MNHQ

Stop it with the mad deleting.

OP posts:
JustineMumsnet · 29/05/2012 20:57

@LunaticFringe

Read nearly 30 pages and want to get in before it gets full.

If the list is still going, please add me. On phone which is slow and clunky.

It occurs to me that if everyone starts reporting anything even vaguely controversial, rude or personal, then mnhq are going to drown in reported threads. Which means they will be unable to get through them and it'll result in a lot of stuff not being deleted. IYSWIM.

So we could go report button happy...

Gee thanks [packs bags].

SecretNutellaFix · 29/05/2012 20:57

You've had these issues with AIBU more since the Gordon Brown fiasco, than before it therefore I have to believe that people come on to the site to pick arguments.

If you get rid of the fighting cage, then the audience will disappear.

Hullygully · 29/05/2012 20:58

But Justine, that's what we will have to do. Because the only people endlessly reporting and getting us all deleted are the moany humourless whinebag Po.

Nonoe of us bother reporting so we always end up madly deleted.

What choice do we have?

OP posts:
JustineMumsnet · 29/05/2012 20:59

@Blatherskite

But why does posting "I am reporting this thread" get you deleted?

It doesn't necessarily. It's a necessary but not sufficient condition.

Actually it's sometimes not necessary - I could just delete something without a report coming in, if I was of a mind to [cackle].

CoteDAzur · 29/05/2012 20:59

"if everyone starts reporting anything even vaguely controversial, rude or personal, then mnhq are going to drown in reported threads"

Sorry but I'm not buying this "MNHQ will delete what's reported" POW.

MNHQ have the duty and the privilege to decide whether or not to delete posts that are reported.

You don't get deleted just cos you've been reported - come on, you're exaggerating gals!

ShirleyKnot · 29/05/2012 21:00

Thread is going to come to an end far too quickly if the list keeps getting posted - I think MNHQ have got the point. A lot of us are fucked off.

Can I have a response to my question please Justine or Rebecca or anyone at MNHQ please?

Or shall I just take a no response to be that Yes, blanket personal attacks on regulars is perfectly ok and sanctioned by MNHQ. As long as I am armed with that info I will know what to do for the best.

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/05/2012 21:00

Justine is sitting in her tower, hoicking up her Judgypants, shrieking shrilly "I'm right! I know I'm in the right here." And swigging back the Hendricks and tonic with gay abandon. GrinGrin

Justine, why don't you/can't you stop any further posts on a thread where the OP (or someone else) has been found to be a troll, and announce that this is why the thread stops? (I'm not being original here, someone brighter than me suggested this the other night.) Then it will be there to refer back to, so people can see, and not get sucked in by the same troll, rather than deleting it - pooffff! - in a puff of smoke and the inevitable "Where has the xxx thread gone?" thread starting.

And what counts as a personal insult is just getting silly and sounds like wording from some UN decision - an exercise in the conditional - "I say, it sounded from your last post that you might have been/could have been/may have been saying something racist/homophobic/a tad unpleasant."

Nope deletions are categorically being driven by a marketing strategy blah blah blah........

there we have it then, in Justine?s own words ? or is this just interpretation???

SecretNutellaFix · 29/05/2012 21:00

If it didn't happen we wouldn't be saying it.

Are you calling us liars?

CoteDAzur · 29/05/2012 21:01

Justine - I like you, I really do. But this just doesn't make sense:

But why does posting "I am reporting this thread" get you deleted?
It doesn't necessarily. It's a necessary but not sufficient condition.

It's... what?

JustineMumsnet · 29/05/2012 21:02

@Maryz

But as far as I remember loads of us have made suggestions to sort out the topics and nothing happens Sad

It is a work in progress, honest - Helen's been beavering away but it's not uncomplicated!

FrankWippery · 29/05/2012 21:02

ArtexMonkey has remained banned after refusing to apologize for "making repeated personal attacks", when in fact it was ONE mildly sceptical post. ONE. Is she supposed to just suck it up? She's been here for years, yet because she won't accept an unfair telling off, she is still suspended. Couldn't this have been handled better?

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/05/2012 21:02

Can I say "poooffff" on MN in that context? ConfusedConfused
