Deletions - These are ludicrous

Ok, that's enough now MNHQ

Stop it with the mad deleting.

OP posts:
mummynoseynora · 29/05/2012 20:44

I am sorry, I have been lurking on this thread but now I feel the need to post!

I am not a prolific poster, most of you won't have a clue who I am - but I have been here nearly 2 years and I have seen some ridiculous deletions / posts left to stand. Over the time period from the start of this year it seems to have gotten FAR more often too.

Justine, I am sorry but some of the things I am reading from you are making me angry! How can you say we like freedom of speech etc (all good) and confirm that posts which call someone on racist / sexist / homophobic / whatever beliefs will be deleted. I am sorry but it shouldn't matter if the post says 'you are being racist' or 'the opinions I am reading in your post could make you sound racist' its all bollocks - Those bigoted words spouted in public, if offended someone could be arrestable!

I feel its important in this country that we call people on ignorant beliefs, if you allow freedom of speech, and allow bigoted posts to stand then you MUST allow people to call on it - if not, then this isn't the site I thought it was and I'll be off... no way am I hanging around to be told off for personal attacks if another poster is in essence attacking a whole group of people

can someone add me to the list please, before I implode!?

EclecticShock · 29/05/2012 20:44

Maryz, I'm talking about the one last week or the week before. Unfortunately, mn policy on deleting has put me off the thread this week. If you give a subtle point you are ignored. If you make a stronger point, you are deleted.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 29/05/2012 20:45

Justine - you already have shitty nasty people who work round the guidelines.

You'll always have more posters coming, yes. But you won't be the same site. One of the most redeeming features of Mnet is the intelligence and wit of the posters and the intelligence and wit of HQ. this is becoming less now. I hate to say it but it's like you are running scared from something, and some people are picking up on this.

For gods sake, stand by your convictions. You always sounded so enthusiastic about feedback and taking concerns on board - now its getting a bit like the customer service desk at a very bad store. Your saying this stuff but people aren't feeling it.

I saw the start of this thread before I went to work & have only skimmed it since but I'm concerned that 'leave the bastard' is a personal insult and it's one of my favourite MN phrases.

EclecticShock · 29/05/2012 20:46

Thanks pan.

StealthPolarBear · 29/05/2012 20:47

Please can someone explain the list to me?

If you are so particularly concerned about The level of aggression in AIBU, then why not do as has been suggested on more than one occasion that I can remember, AND GET RID OF THE TOPIC!!!

JustineMumsnet · 29/05/2012 20:49

@Maryz

You seem to be a lot more concerned at the moment about the level of trollhunting than you are about the level of trolls Sad.

That's not really fair Maryz. We really do put in lots of behind the scenes work on trolls and investigate any and all reports thoroughly - we just think tactically and strategically that it should occur off board and behind the scenes because we all know that trolls thrive on attention/causing trouble. What I am concerned about also is that fear of trolls leads people to mistrust genuine posters because then of course the trolls win...

this really is unacceptable!

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 29/05/2012 20:50

Justine

Agree about AIBU, here's an interesting point. From my observation a majority of posters on here have bemoaned AIBU for a long time and rarely post on there.

Mummynoseynora - good post. (well apart from where you apologised for posting Grin)

AnyFucker · 29/05/2012 20:50

Harriet, rest assured that posting "leave the bastard" will never be a deletable offence

if it becomes so, I will strip naked and chain myself to the railings outside MN Towers Grin

StealthPolarBear · 29/05/2012 20:50

Ahhh oops well I think they may have noticed if they've seen my posts.

Add me if you dont mind. Mn has definitely changed recently when many of the posters who make it what it is have gone or rarely post

LadySybildeChocolate · 29/05/2012 20:50

Oh, and 'ZeroFucksGiven' has had a load deleted. Poor woman thought you'd banned her.

Pinot · 29/05/2012 20:50

Nora that was superb.

Now I'm off as I'm drinking a rather nice voddie and coke and I may get lippy.

ZeroFucksGiven · 29/05/2012 20:51

Justine, when I was banned with no notice, warning or explanation I told Rowen that I also felt that MNHQ dont do enough to get rid of trolls, I have recently reported so much crap and none of it has even been acknowledged.

mummynoseynora · 29/05/2012 20:51

thanks Maryz

bunnybabylon · 29/05/2012 20:51

what are they deleting exactly? haven't noticed it myself though don't tend to spend hours on here

Harr1etJ0nes · 29/05/2012 20:52

AF-

ZeroFucksGiven · 29/05/2012 20:52

ladysybil loads? have I? Sad I was banned for over 12 hours until I was basically made to apologise and promise to stick to the rules which I obviously did.

Sorry Im trying to read through 16 pages and keep up with the recent posts on here.
