I won't be posting on mumsnet until this is sorted out and our lovely online home is our own again. Somewhere reasonably safe, with campaigns to be proud of like "We Believe You".

MN needs to be somewhere that women especially can feel welcome and free from the sort of harassment that invaders have subjected the site to lately.

I invite anybody else who feels the same way to a temporary withdrawal from posting.

Let's cut off the oxygen to twits, and come back when they've got bored.

Good luck to HQ with getting rid of them and making this the best site for women on the web again.

Those F4J posters are just laughable. I mean now I have actually seen them they really are pathetic. Surely anyone with a brain larger than a dot can see that random words taken out of context does not gender hatred make? Hmm

Please don't anybody be put off posting - this is our site, for guys and gals alike, as long as we are here to support each other. Some great strategies for dealing with trolls - but I tend to stick to ignore and report.

Pinot · 19/03/2012 17:40

Blimey.

Trills · 19/03/2012 17:42

If you all have LSD can you share please?

blondieminx · 19/03/2012 17:43

SGM I hope that MNHQ are only allowing the fb posts to stand as evidence... In between the first and second episodes of Family Guy last night on BBC3 they trailed a documentary about the darker side of social networking and then the announcer mentioned there had been news of someone being arrested for comments made on fb... I do hope it was the vile person who threatened you.

Unmumsnetty hugs to all those who've been quoted/threatened by F4J but as others have said I really don't see how attacking Mumsnet or indeed stripping off outside Marks and Sparks will help fathers see more of their children Hmm

F4J (I assume) have reported posts I made addressing Nadine's letter/comments on mumsnets FB page (because I cant post on theirs) strange how equality/free speech etc goes out of the window when someone diosagrees or challenges.

BrianTheBrainSurgeon · 19/03/2012 18:01

I love the idea of filling troll-ed threads with random song lyrics Grin

I haven't posted on any of them and will stay as far aways as possible!!!

HelenMumsnet · 19/03/2012 18:37

@StewieGriffinsMom

NinthWave your comment about the We Believe You campaign is important because members of F4J are posting all over MN's FB claiming that most women lie about domestic violence. Since DV also includes rape, I think it's quite hypocritical for MN to refuse to delete those posts.

I am very angry at being libelled all over the MN FB page and MNHQ refusing to delete personal attacks on me. I use this name on FB but I don't think that is reason not to delete personal attacks on me.

We're not refusing to SGM. Sorry if you got that impression. We're just running hard to catch up - and regularly tripping over and falling flat on our faces. Those posts on our FB page have been removed. Do let us know if we've missed any.

Lexilicious · 19/03/2012 19:01

My mumsnet experience has been greatly improved since I clicked hide on the entire AIBU and Relationships topics and on any thread title that looks bunfighty. However I am really shallow have little of any insight to offer people with genuine relationship queries and am neither funny enough nor sharp enough to keep up with aibu quickfire yah-boo-ing. I've got my safe zones and I'll stay there. Will happily have a go if I see a song title derail going on though.

corinewmoon · 19/03/2012 19:07

They wont win, MN is too big and too popular for any of the advertisers to seriously consider withdrawing support.
Ill ignore the F4J and keep on posting, there reputation is far worse and not really taken seriously ( though hopefully the cause is)

LadySybilDeChocolate · 19/03/2012 19:10

Actually, I was going to take a break but, when I thought about it, I decided not to. This is just what they want and the only way to deal with bullies is to stand up against them, united.

M&S Thanks anyone?

SecretNutellaFix · 19/03/2012 19:18

Bullies are cowards. I will not allow myself to be intimidated by a group of idiots who threaten those who speak out against them.

FrothyDragon · 19/03/2012 19:18

I've been so close to flouncing recently. This has been horrible. But yep, staying put.

@StewieGriffinsMom

Helen - I have an email stating that the posts I had reported weren't being deleted. That's why I deleted the link to the ASA that I had posted on FB. It was because I couldn't bear to see the remark remain knowing how many women on here have been accused of lying about their experiences of domestic violence.

You have mail, SGM.

There's no man born (or woman either) who will bully me away from where I want to be. I want to be here. I want to talk about politics and property and oven gloves and cats. I want to offer a hand and a word of friendship and I want to say 'get a grip' when it's needed. I've posted here when my baby was all poorly and floppy and got help. I've sat and cried with some of you and I've cheered too. I've boasted about my driving test and I've learnt a lot. I'm staying.

mumatron · 19/03/2012 20:17

northerlurker Brilliant post.

Pinot · 19/03/2012 20:23

northernlurker you are all kinds of awesome

LadyBeagleEyes · 19/03/2012 20:35

Bloody no way will I stop using Mn, because of those wankers.
Ignore them, they'll go away soon enough.
Sorry Bof, but it's a mad idea.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 19/03/2012 20:49

Sorry coming to this late but what the actual FUCK? having just read the secon coming's post!! What is going on this is madness.
I'm going nowhere! Bullying fuckwits.

MadameBoolala · 19/03/2012 21:04

Hear Hear NorthernLurker.

Sunnywithachanceofshowers · 19/03/2012 21:40

I'm not going - I was here before them :)

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 19/03/2012 22:09

I'm staying. I won't be intimidated. Let's face it, this is just a play for free advertising, by those people.
'Let's cause a stir, which mother orientated organisation can we antagonise, in order to get ourselves some much needed media attention'?
Sod that!
