I won't be posting on mumsnet until this is sorted out and our lovely online home is our own again. Somewhere reasonably safe, with campaigns to be proud of like "We Believe You".

MN needs to be somewhere that women especially can feel welcome and free from the sort of harassment that invaders have subjected the site to lately.

I invite anybody else who feels the same way to a temporary withdrawal from posting.

Let's cut off the oxygen to twits, and come back when they've got bored.

Good luck to HQ with getting rid of them and making this the best site for women on the web again.

Just dont directly engage with them. I make a point of answering all civil posts - for or against my pov - and just ignore the rude or personal ones. It is the best way to frustrate them IMO especially if you name the ones you are answering and just miss out the others which makes it noticeable. The contemptuous silence treatment oh dear am l being passive aggressive. Confused

I cross-posted there because I took so long to write my post - but maryz, I am a bit irriated by your post. Most normal people do not need to 'think before posting' in order to provide evidence that we are not man-haters. Most MNers like men and we're mostly married to men, or have male children and dear family members. It is absurd to suggest there is any risk of MNers sounding as if they are anti-men.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 19/03/2012 16:13

If they are abusing or intimidating posters -report it.

However, posting a view of women or mothers that I don't agree with is allowed even if it is objectionable from my point of view unless it is abusive towards me or intimidates me.

Afternoon, folks.

Please do feel free not to engage with posters - either here or on Facebook - who only seem intent on provoking an intemperate response.

As any mother of a toddler knows, tantrums fizzle out fastest when you choose to ignore.

But we would be most Shock and Sad if you all decided to up sticks and not post at all.

There are dozens of other threads on Mumsnet today - and every day - that are worthy of your wise, witty and warm posts. Do please feel free to join them.

Does anyone else think that Helen needs a patented unMNy-hug?

ExitPursuedByABear · 19/03/2012 16:18

Oh yes - hugs all round for MNHQ.

Honeydragon · 19/03/2012 16:18

Just keep calm and carry on.

Although to be fair BOF has by far the nicest bottom of us all so is the best candidate for a full on flounce out the door complete with theatrical hip swayage.

Plus she has the advantage of actually been missed.

But I'd rather she stayed.

Well I've said my piece.

BroomForMyChin · 19/03/2012 16:19

Please can someone start some fun/interesting threads? I'm so bored of all the troll ones. I have a sleeping baby on my lap, I can't move. You can't all disappear someone needs to provide me with entertainment.

Stonesour · 19/03/2012 16:20

Can't we just fill up the bastard troll threads really quick by posting random words.

Am Sad for all the abuse that some posters are receiving at the moment though

[Feels stabby]

Does anyone else think that Helen needs a patented unMNy-hug?

Bless you. And yes I do.

BroomForMyChin · 19/03/2012 16:26

That's not a bad idea thisweek. Maybe we could fill them up with random song lyrics?

DoomCatsofCognitiveDissonance · 19/03/2012 16:26

Helen, they're not toddlers. And this may be a tantrum, but that doesn't mean it's not scary.

It'd be nice if we could all pretend these people were just like cross toddlers, but they are not: they are adults who are not above making threats to posters here, and who belong to an organization that goes in for exhibitionist personal intimidation.

great Idea Broom.

Melusina · 19/03/2012 16:28

Although I've not commented on recent events, I've gone back to my lurking days and lurked my arse off!

It's difficult to know where is safe and where is not.

So I will continue to conduct myself in a reasonable manner.

And fall under the radar as usual :)

LittleGnu · 19/03/2012 16:29

Can anyone point me to a thread hijacked by "trolls"? I think the problem with this site is that no-one is allowed to call "troll", an absurd rule.

mumatron · 19/03/2012 16:31

I kind of agree doomcat. F4J are a group that have previously talked about stopping a member from firebombing someone and more recently about 'shooting' a mntter.

I am in no way saying that F4J would ever condone acts of violence but they are obviously going to attract people with extreme views and people who are prepared to take extreme actions.

The only place that seems safe at the moment is style and beauty. But I end up spending a fortune after reading those threads. If this invasion doesn't end soon I'll end up penniless!

OhChristFENTON · 19/03/2012 16:36

{{{{{{{Helen}}}}}}}}

cornsilksity · 19/03/2012 16:39

I'm going to ignore them as well.
Hope they don't go asking on style and beauty for advice about Lycra bodysuits- there's no way that tethers will be able to resist.
