I have a question. Is this site for Parenets or mums? are only mums parents?

OP posts:
CappyHunt · 18/03/2012 15:23

Dull. And it's not even the Easter hols yet.

BIWI · 18/03/2012 15:24

I love the way people who are new to Munsnet get so het up about something that all those of us who have been here forever have no issue with!

Welcome to Mumsnet, OP!

BIWI · 18/03/2012 15:25

Mumsnet, of course!

Honeydragon · 18/03/2012 15:25

Hec Grin
I'd forgotten about that.

There are a huaaaage amount of fellas on this site who have been here for years and years and years and not one of them has gone "Mumsnet? Mumsnet?! Why you sexist arse weasels!!!"

Yet you turned up and registered specifically to complain?

OhChristFENTON · 18/03/2012 15:29

Hahaha Tiggy winkle

Brilliant Grin

Codandchops · 18/03/2012 15:30

This HAS been discussed before though - waaay back on and off and in the end we had Dadsnet within the site and now Gransnet as well. Good to have new people in though Smthchri - you are welcome here. Have a look around the site and see what's here.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 18/03/2012 15:30

'Arse weasel' - now that's an insult I must find occasion to use!

Would it be rude of me to point out to the OP that his title would make more sense if it had a verb in it?

OhChristFENTON · 18/03/2012 15:31

I agree actually, the menz on here to tend to stick around don't they?

Maybe they are not so prone to flouncing as the laydeez.

smthchri · 18/03/2012 17:55

@NormaStanleyFletcher Fathers for justice is often known as Families For justice, which I prefer as I have been on 2 sides of this argument both as a child and a father many years
@Codandchops as this issue has been discussed before, and you ended up with Dadsnet as part of mumsnet.. I am guessing it is an issue.. and this issue has never gone away. Guess what.. it is still here.

Just googled families for justice and they have a completely different web site and don't mention f4j as an affiliated organisation.

They are NOT the same thing

crazynanna · 18/03/2012 18:09

Fathers for justice is also known as (and I prefer) the name F4J.. it is all encompassing..

OP posts:
Honeydragon · 18/03/2012 18:30

Well Mumsnet is also known as the Vipers nest, problem solved

usualsuspect · 18/03/2012 18:33

I think Mamasnet would be the most international Grin

BIWI · 18/03/2012 18:40

Vipernet.com does it for me!

kingbeat23 · 18/03/2012 18:44

seriously, seriously? you're seriously asking this or are you loking for a rise on mother day?

2 mums got on the net and thought of a name for parents they thought of mumsnet - fucking genius, they byline of for parents by parents would have given a clue that it was all encompassing for parents...unless you're a fish

hth

messyisthenewtidy · 18/03/2012 18:46

OP, do you write to Working Mens' Clubs and protest about the use of Men in the title?

Do you refuse to use the words "chairman", "postman", "mankind" etc?

Or do you just complain about "sexism" when it affects you?

OMGBFP · 18/03/2012 18:51

Have to admit I do hate the name Mumsnet. There are far more people here than just mums and I am sure it does put some people off joining.

I also agree though that brand is everything and to change it now, like Netmums and Fathers for Justice (I assume you are posting there too to complain OP?) would not be a good thing.
