SantasBigSack
I am sorry that you feel that you were not very well supported when you were in difficulties. It is something that I have seen on MN sometimes. One poster will be inundated by offers of sympathy and help. Two days later a similar post will get hardly any replies, or a harsh reception. I think it is the first 10 replies that set the tone of the whole thread.

Am nodding at Bof and SGMs posts tonight.

I have no idea what happened on here last night, I have got the general gist of it though...but a while ago I posted ranting and bloody furious about how the bank had put a "stop" on our joint account and at the same time they managed to lose a transfer from my savings account into the above mentioned joint account. I was livid and was ranting to MN, as I ahd no one else to rant too.It resulted in me spending 4 days unable to access money and worse still, DH was stuck overseas unable to access any.
Within in minutes 2 posters (who shall remain anonymous) PM'd me offering to transfer moeny into any other account I might have. they said "I've chatted on here with you for years and you've been here 6 so i feel I know you".

Although it was very very kind of them (and I shall never forget their kindness) I was also a bit Blush about the whole thing, and paranoid, thinkign "OMG what if they think I am posting this to get money from people (seeing as one of them had obviously been following my posts on other topics and commented that "it's the latest in along line of crap".
it took me a few hours to get over the fact that they were genuinely nice people, and i think therein lies the problem, there are a lot of genuine nice people on here who really want to help others and sometimes cannot, or will not stop to think of the bigger picture or the issues/security issues it can cause by being so forward

Sorry, I have had wine and am waffling Grin

For people who didn't see the threads last night: It's not a case that the poster said 'please give me some money, here's my bank account' She posted that due to circumstances beyond her control she was out of cash till a week on Friday. Some posters immediately offered help. She replied that she had presents for the kids sorted. Therefore food and cash was offered. In response to that she gave a paypal reference and I assume also responded to pms. That's what happened. This was then characterised a 'begging' thread by some posters and a number of people weighed in. Some very sensibly offered advice re benefits and crisis loans applications. Some though started asking how much had she got, how long had she been posting, referring to trolls and starting piss-taking threads in apalling taste.

I don't think anything that happened last night rquires any change in policy by HQ. I do think some posters should look long and hard at themselves and hope to God their lives never go up in smoke. Although that might help them grow some empathy.

MJinSparklyStockings · 21/12/2011 20:00

Much like you don't have to stay on the forum, you don't have to respond to or read my posts - and if your interest is the thread where's your contribution to it - last time I looked it was about money donations not me.

MmeReindor · 21/12/2011 20:01

Amory
I have no idea of the back story between you and MJ but it is absolutely NOT ON to bring up unrelated arguments from a previous thread.

LissTheSeasonLouBeJollie · 21/12/2011 20:02

santasbigsack, I remember that. as mme says, you can usually tell how a thread is going to pan out by the first 10-20 replies. how are you doing now? did you contact your gp

UrsulaTurkeyCurryBuffay · 21/12/2011 20:02

This thread is fucking horrible.

whenfuckergotstuckinthechimney · 21/12/2011 20:03

LissTheSeasonLouBeJollie · 21/12/2011 20:03

nl you've omitted that the sums apparently received were apparently considerable, and op didn't stop at say £50 enough for Xmas dinner and some. wine.as far as we know all monies kept

and no LA would leave family with nada, there is crises loan and voluntary sector for provision

ChristmasFuckers · 21/12/2011 20:07

oh we have to calm down otherwise they will delete the longest thread I ever created. better pm the gossip

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 21/12/2011 20:07

TSC - I remember it fine. POssibly you misread it in your haste to accuse the OP of gathering in vast amounts of cash. You did speculate on the amount didn't you?

It is not unusual for two people to read the same thread and have completely different impression of it afterwards.

Northernlurker · 21/12/2011 20:09

SM - there was no information on the amount of that thread. Some people speculated - with nothing to go on but their own fevered imagination. The op was concerned that a crisis loan would not be available to them

MmeReindor · 21/12/2011 20:12

WTF are you going on about? Have I missed something? MJ posted a comment about this issue and was attacked by another poster accusing her of something I don't understand. What has that to do with trollhunting?

This thread keeps getting weirder and weirder.
