has it always been there? or has it moved? and does that mean if someone 'likes' that thread it will be posted to their fb page?

OP posts:
ThisPaleBlueLineIsMineAllMine · 15/12/2011 20:03

I might be very stupid here but - if i press 'like' .... how does it know my FB page?

rednosedreindeerhead · 15/12/2011 20:05

Hate it. Get rid.

winterfox · 15/12/2011 20:05

how on earth would it now your facebook page?

i imagine it would just show on the mumsnet page like twitter

IAmFuckingPissedOff · 15/12/2011 20:05

It's on loads of sensitive topics Sad. Infertility, Conception, Fostering ffs, I mean really Shock.

And I've only looked at the first section in Topics.

I presume it is on all the Health Topics? It's in "Child and Adolescent Mental Health" and I don't see much that is more sensitive that that Angry.

I haven't checked the rest, but noticed it was there on "Bullying".

FFS

winterfox · 15/12/2011 20:06

know oh though i suppose it would appear on your own page

then don't press it - simples Grin

Wormshuffler · 15/12/2011 20:06

So it can only be a problem if you have mumsnet friends as facebook friends?

HowlingBitch · 15/12/2011 20:06

I take back my Thanks and Brew

SayYuleNowSayWhipTheReindeer · 15/12/2011 20:07

winterfox - as mentioned several times below, it's not whether WE click the Like button, but anyone can click it. And then it's posted to their FB.

ChrisTingleTeaspoon · 15/12/2011 20:08

This is a BAD IDEA. Please fix it! You listened to us on that doctor review site thingy, please listen now! Angry

JaneBirkin · 15/12/2011 20:08

If anyone is interested, here is a link to a link to the permanent deletion request form for facebook.

If you use it you then have to not log in or use facebook in any way for two weeks, or it will cancel itself and not delete you.

I've just done it as there's no point being on there for me...I'm never in 'active' format anyway.

winterfox · 15/12/2011 20:09

ok keep yer knickers on

SemperUbiSubUbi · 15/12/2011 20:09

Ok so there have been so many responded it wants me to upgrade to view them all. Thats not going to happen so I can only see the first 100 responses.

From the first 100 votes 96 are not happy about this, 92 will not be using it and 98 wish to be anonymous on mumsnet.

I will post a link to a screen shot on the site stuff topic soon.

If anyone has a "professional account" to collect more information then lpease feel free to do so.

LineRunnerCrouchingReindeer · 15/12/2011 20:09

Get the fuck rid of Facebook from MN.

Or Santa gets it.

SayYuleNowSayWhipTheReindeer · 15/12/2011 20:10

winterfox, I'm not wearing any.

CrispLeCrisp · 15/12/2011 20:10

Sorry Semper, i have been linking your survey everywhere Grin

Hassledge · 15/12/2011 20:12

Another one here who hates it with a passion.

I keep thinking about threads where I and people local to me have been discussing the city - if someone (obviously local) "liked" that I could be identified in no time at all. There really aren't that many degrees of separation.

ThisPaleBlueLineIsMineAllMine · 15/12/2011 20:12

How will it know where my Fb page? Confused

ThisPaleBlueLineIsMineAllMine · 15/12/2011 20:13

...is Blush

IAmFuckingPissedOff · 15/12/2011 20:13

Wow, that's pretty much unanimous isn't it.

Though I wonder about the four who aren't happy about it but will use it anyway Grin.

cuppatea2 · 15/12/2011 20:13

MNHQ - the very best comment on here apart from the suggestion to get rid of it is that is MUST NOT appear on any thread posted prior to the new button - people posted with ane xpectation of provacy and this has been taken away without their consent - obviously thisis wrong

supadupaturkeystupour · 15/12/2011 20:15

no thread is private. anyone can read them. and link them. that has not changed. no privacy has been removed.

Nipple · 15/12/2011 20:15

it is on previous threads.

Dustinthewind · 15/12/2011 20:15

We will all have to become Mason-like, change names every week and develop a secret sign by which our friends may recognise us.
Because, let's face it, the bosses won't listen.
I used to be on a parenting site that sold its soul to the Mouse in Florida, who took over. The woman who set up the site insisted that all would be well, but the Mouse sucked the site dry and dumped it.
Including one of the most active boards for Asperger's and Autism that I'd ever known, supportive and lively. You could scream in the middle of the night and someone would be there, you could ask daft questions and find someone living the same acid trip that you were.
Gone.
So I have no faith at all that MN towers will listen to your whimpers in reality. They will steamroller ahead and you will all cope or leave.

DressingGownSnowQueen · 15/12/2011 20:16

MNHQ could you even just make is customisable? So people can opt in or out of it like that bloody annoying drop down bar thing
