My virus scanner keeps blocking threats from Mumsnet!

Not sure if this is the right place but my virus scanner (AVG) keeps blocking threats when I am on MN. Then it stops me from using the site until I close it & open it up again. The last one was a 'blackhole' something! Not sure what this is...anyone?

I just had this problem too!
Backdoor/Trojan thing

Microsoft Security Essentials got rid of it for me. And I now have adblock plus (Thanks whoever mentioned that ad on)

mistlethrush · 08/09/2011 17:32

I've just had this caution:

Results
Danger: Surf-Shield has detected active threats on this page and has blocked access for your protection.
The page you are trying to access has been identified as a known exploit, phishing, or social engineering web site and therefore has been blocked for your safety. Without protection, such as that in the AVG Security Toolbar and AVG, your computer is at risk of being compromised, corrupted or having your identity stolen. Please follow one of the suggestions below to continue.

Name: Blackhole Exploit Kit (type 1889)

that's what i have had mistle

bubbles4 · 08/09/2011 17:35

If your running Firefox, try using Adblock plus and flashblock plus.I use both of these and have had no problems at all.

NessaRose · 08/09/2011 18:37

I have just had a warning for a trojan as well. on IE7 with avast.

Feenie · 08/09/2011 18:40

I had the same warning as mistle, on IE7 with AVG.

RumpledTitSkin · 08/09/2011 18:43

I've had a few too.

Latest one this evening popped up in a box saying AVG have blocked a black hole phishing scam.

I pressed close and carried on as normal.

Seems ok so far.

I'd been just looking at active threads.

bebejones · 08/09/2011 18:54

Mine said what Mistle said! But not had one since Monday Hmm

I've just had a message when I got to talk page, antivirus had detected a threat. Had one last week too. Husband is not impressed and is threatening a Mumsnet ban (it's his computer).

Leo35 · 08/09/2011 21:14

Second virus threat detected by Avast this week. Just had a malware warning, not sure what Mumsnet Towers techies are doing about this.

peggyblackett · 08/09/2011 21:48

Another one for me too.

caughtinanet · 08/09/2011 21:53

I've had one for the first time today, I didn't click on any adverts and none opened themselves.

The message was the same as mistlethrush's

OliviaMumsnet · 08/09/2011 22:38

Hello
Sorry this is still happening - afaik techs are still trying to fix but i'll double check
Sorry again
MN TOWERS

HopeEternal · 08/09/2011 22:54

Olivia, frankly if you're having trouble identifying the particular ad or ads which are causing this, MNHQ needs to seriously consider removing all adverts from the site until you do so. I have been a forum moderator and that is what we did when we had similar problems.

NarkyPuffinLovesDiane · 08/09/2011 23:41

This keeps happening to me. I actually came to start a new thread to tell you about this MNHQ.

It's happened 3/4 times in the past couple of days. It's when I first log on to the homepage. I use IE7 and Norton.

NarkyPuffinLovesDiane · 08/09/2011 23:50

The last attack report from Norton says

Web Attack: Malicious Toolkit Website 9

Attacking computer
stteeeppone.com (217.116.198.29, 80)

Attacker URL

stteeeppone.com/main.php?page=0b1eba0446e855de

orangina · 09/09/2011 00:13

I just got exactly the same thing... stteeeppone something......

orangina · 09/09/2011 00:16

JS/Exploit.Pdf.PDM.Gen Trojan

MrsSBrown · 09/09/2011 07:38

Hi, I don't open adverts, ever, but have recently started getting this when opening the homepage - something about Java. I use Avira.

orangina · 09/09/2011 10:51

And AGAIN! Just now, same thing........

orangina · 09/09/2011 10:52

(I use firefox and ESET).

Will stay off MN unless this can be sorted I think...... have only just managed to clean up my laptop from some foul bit of malware that lodged itself in the depths......

ShowOfHands · 09/09/2011 11:07

I've had this a few times. Trojan Horse blocked by Avast, using IE8. Last time I was looking at active convos. The problem was something like 180daystogo.com. That's not it exactly but it was along those lines...

orangina · 09/09/2011 11:17

This last time I just logged into MN and went straight to active convos.

orangina · 09/09/2011 11:18

Have just installed adblock plus now, will see if that makes any difference.....

theginganinja · 09/09/2011 11:20

Ad block also does an add on for google chrome for those of you not using FF. I've not had a problem but then I always have adblock on.
